Fuel Hike: Ajaero Condemns NNPCL For Deciding Dangote Refinery’s Pricing by Ofunaofu(op): 9:02am On Oct 10, 2024
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, has queried the decision of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, to decide the fuel pricing for Dangote Refinery.

Ajaero remarked while condemning NNPCL for increasing the pump price of fuel.

NNPCL had increased the retail price of petrol to N1,030 from N897 per litre in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Ajaero said: “As we are sitting down here, they have gone to increase the pump price of petroleum again. Now what do you do in such instances?

They expect us to buy it. Even, things we have been asking for; CNG as an alternative; for more than one year, we have been asking for the commencement of work at the Port Harcourt refinery; we had an agreement to that effect—NLC, TUC, and the federal government.

“We have heard that Dangote Refinery is producing locally and prices are going up. All the indices they gave to us about the need to deregulate have proven negative. You are fixing prices as a private company.

“As far as I’m concerned, except something has happened to CAC, NNPCL is now a private company. Can that same NNPCL dictate the price for Dangote and other private companies? Those are issues, those are questions begging for answers.”

The price of the crude in the international market is fluctuating, it would affect the local price too.

NLC and TUC should stop playing immature politics with this issue

In 2012, price of fuel was increased from 97 to 140 naira and all hell broke lose
In just one 1 year, T pain also the minister of petroleum has increased price from 197 to over 1300 and everywhere is silent

The opposition is in disarray and everyone is just swallowing the bitter pill

They dribbled NLC to accept the merge 70k with promise they would not increase the fuel price and the boom!

A friendly reminder that this is just page 1 of 8. We have 7 more years to go

If the opposition cannot mount an effective resistant against this exploitation then anyone saying they would vote T-pain out in 2027 is on a long thing

They want to equate it to price of imported petrol cos if their imported petrol is higher than dangote petrol their importation business and their abroad refinery will liquidate.

We are buying refined product pms and not crude and moreover fg do sell now in naira. Did the other countries like saudi, uae and kuwait adjust their pump price.

NNPCL is a den of devil's. They don't want Dangote to crash their business...

They know that allowing Dangote to sell at his price Mya cause him to seek at a price lower than their imported fuel, the reason for this evil.

This is evil.

And the daft illegal president is at the heart of this.

This man should shut up

He's the most clueless NLC president ever

I've never heard of an NLC president wailing on the pages of newspaper when govt is breaking promises instead of calling for action

I suspect this man is a puppet

They determined dangotes price and abandoned the arrangement. Now they claim fuel prices are high due phantom markets forces that cannot be economically explained. undecided

we don't even know if this price is based on naira swap arrangement or imported crude... Just pin drop silence and irresponsible denials from even government shows something is fishy.
