Bro there is no way to remove subsidy and not cause inflation. No country in the world can remove subsidy on fuel/exchange rate and not suffer it for some years before things stabilize.

Any politician that tells you that you can remove subsidy and things will get suddenly better within 1 year is a hardcore liar and only telling you what you wish to hear.

Other countries that do stuffs like this have citizens that are educated and patriotic. Nigerians are too divided for anyone to persevere and wait for policy to bear fruit. Most times it takes years for things to stabilize.
lies, lies, and lies

The problem wasn't the subsidy removal. Subsidy removal wasnt what caused the out of control hyper-inflation ravaging the country. Devaluing the naira was the problem, and the cause of all the shit that has gotten out of control. The naira is now tissue paper thanks to balablu. If the naira was kept stable at least till Dangote comes on stream, fuel would be around 500 today not 500x3.

President Tpain should temper justice with mercy. Make baba bring back subsidy, make e forgive Nigerians.

It’s now evident all that nonsense economic analysts and professor dey yarn about remove subsidy and bla bla bla na nonsense.

Nigeria is a multi-cultural multi-interest country, no need trying to restructure the finances coz the next president can easily come and undo everything and we back to square zero. Just do your own and leave the rest for Jah.

Tinubu should bring back subsidy now before fuel become 5000 per liter.

Stop saying nonsense. Everything he is doing is in his policy document and he is implementing them. He is the only president that actually follow his manifesto and action it in reality. However, Nigeria is a country where nothing will work because of the constituent and the divergence of interest.

He should just do the regular thing politicians do and stop being the messiah. Bring back the subsidy and borrow massively to maintain an artificial stability and leave the effect for the next unlucky president. Blow that foreign reserve now!!!
See defense for glaring failure due to incompetence

Nigeria problems are not too hard to solve but it requires expertise and critical thinking, it is not about policy that was designed and suggested for him by his team for political campaigns, it is about the strategic and sustainable implementation

The reason many of us are supporting OBI is that he met Anambra in a similar scenario with Nigeria of today and sanitized it without making noise in the media, that's leadership by taking responsibility

I am not because I am able to comprehend his message which is as simple as, if we wish we can continue to live our artificial choice of life via subsidy at the end the reality which no one will escape will dawn on us all as long as we care not to be patient.

The FACTS are all out there PETER OBI was a failure as a governor. There is no reason why you want Peter Obi except on sentimental bases. Truth be told.

You’re right.

I doff my hat for him. Man took all the action policy people have been telling us all these years which no president have had the courage to do.

He did it, and now we see the effect of those kinda policy. It is not too late to backtrack, I’m sure no sane Nigerian will ever abuse the government for subsidy again if he bring back subsidy.

Tinubu should stop being a messiah, Nigeria cannot be fixed with our current constituent.
He is deluded,an economic illtrate
The painful thing is that the the road he is taking can never lead to the main road from the Bush Nigeria is in
If there is light at the end of the tunnel after this crazy policy of Tinubu, it would been wise and patriotic of Nigerians to support him but the guy is behaving like a quack doctor
Let him tell us ,what he aims to achieve in the short, medium and long term from this his ill thought policies you won't get any response
There is nothing to measure the success of his policies with
He just hoping like a gambler that his wishful thinking yield results

There is something Dnagote has been saying that govt didn't help him in anyway to set up his refinery that's the greatest lie of the century how much was dollar sold to him when he started building the refinery and how much was dollar sold to other business men...how much was the land sold to him on which his refinery stands...govt has made dangote richer over the years...how much is the refinery worth now.we thought the masses would benefit bit it seems the Nigerian govt have further enriched dangote and probably a few other individuals over the years...the Nigerian govt need to buy 50 percent stake I that refinery and push policies that will favour the masses and enough of the importation of goods that are not improving our productive capacity as a nation..we are wasting our foreign reserve on useless goods and some ppl will steal our naira and purchase dollar at any price to keep feeding their impulses..this is wat is responsible for the downfall of the naira...virtual 50 percent of Nigerian youths are using a foreign phone and laptop...our politicians are stealing our naira and converting it to dollars stock piling the said dollars and buying latest foreign cars every year as they are released ...this ppl are killing are country

Millions of people are partly responsible for the mess Nigeria is in.

Without Buhari, they can never be a Tinubu. They kept quiet when Buhari was mismanaging the country that is what lead us here.

No be today Nigeria started failing.

Don’t be surprised. Tinubu should just bring back FX subsidy and prop up Yoruba people as the new BDC, sell to them at 400 and they round trip at 800.

If Buhari can do it, Tinubu should also be bold to do it.

Burn down that Foreign reserve like Buhari did and leave the mess for the next president.

Why is he trying to be the messiah?

So what is devaluing the naira called? Is that not FX subsidy?

If you have low foreign reserve earnings, where will you see money to maintain an artificial rate?

If tomorrow they peg the naira to a rate, we will still need to use your FX reserve to maintain that price. Then people aPetite for foreign goods increase, we pay the subsidy on it, then in 3 years, our FX reserve go back down and we are back to square one.

You can only peg successfully if you have the reserve to maintain it and source of income to steady the reserve. Nigeria only source is crude and we’ve used most of it to borrow into the future.

he is doing it and getting away with it becasue the opposition are not vibrant.. if there is a gang up like the one in 2012, do you honestly think this will go onhuhthe current opposition are weakling, stupid or maybe libral.. so it has nothing to domwith gut and courage but weakness of the opposition and media buy ups
Who weakened the opposition? You think they just suddenly grow weak?

Bro Tinubu is the strongest politician in the past 2 decades. Someone that won just 1.3/3 of the votes and still able to keep the remaining 1.7 opposition steady even with all these policies.

You think Goodluck don’t have money to buy the media? He was just not strong enough to withstand the strong Tinubu caucus then in opposition.

What he is doing can only work in a monolithic country and not necessarily in a complex country like Nigeria.

Make baba bring back full Subsidy. Borrow more loans to maintain the subsidy, take the debt servicing to 98% of revenue, use crude to borrow money from the future, keep fuel at #200 per liter and leave the mess for the next president to clean.

Fuel at 1100+ is nonsense. What is the essence of removing subsidy when the common man cannot brethe and another president can just come, bring back subsidy, and poor man just suffer for 4/8 years for nothing.
No…I disagree with you. Tinubu is working. It finally took you buying fuel above 1000 per liter to stop being silly abi? Tinubu is working please. If you don’t agree then that is your business

you are lying and you know...
plenty past president tried removing except pmb and when GEJ tried it, all opposition ganged up against him even when they knew it was the best time to do it and the right thing to do... in this part of the worl we mostly mistake politics for governance, and you dont play politics with governance...tinubu and oppositions with exception of PMB(that one knows nothing) knew removing subsidy at that time was the best thing to do and the best for the country and instead of them to side with the policy and then wait for fuckup to play their olitics, they played politics with the people they now claim to love...

Tinubu removing subsidy was not a bad thing, the bad thing was floating dollars without letting the subsidy regime managed itself out first...if he had removed subsidy, improve fiscal policy, and then wait for when the subdsiy has been assimilated to then float the dollar then this mess we have now wouldnt have been here (this is basic economics101)....

but then tribe and religion will always blind us and we will suffer for it always not the so called leaders...
Thank you sir, u wey know say na tribe and religion dey motivate us on our choices and even for that sef, it's not a bad thing if you care to know. We are after all still animals, though a higher one and primodal instinct for survival is what drives us. If I decide in my mind that my chances of survival in a multi ethnic country like Nigeria is guaranteed only when my tribal person is on the driving seat cos his policies will protect what I care for, do you think I will care what you think of my choices? Most of these American politicians from the Republican party that used to bad mouth Trump now talk good about him cos they have come to realize that the survival of their political career depends largely on him. Are we not supposed to be criticizing those politicians that they lack morals when their survival is at stake?

FYI, all those your stories that GEJ wanted to remove subsidy, it's a wash... why didn't he? Is it that he is not man enough like Tinubu to take the heat for his decisions?

My own issue is just Tinubu's knee-jerk solution to Nigeria's challenges.

This is just too defeatist

So no hope for the country?

So what will a different person come to do ,lets just pack up and share the proceeds and everyone go their own way now
I feel as humans, we should always put everything on the table, if we want to be sincere with ourselves. Apart from economic challenges, security challenges is there too. We can either go regional government way or split the country up for peace to reign.

Bringing back the subsidy would be a big mistake. He has already set a precedent for other presidents to follow. In all honesty, things are very difficult but if the monies raised are distributed to the Local Government rather than the state governors, Nigeria will witness fast development.
Developments that will compensate for the hardship
still funny to see people think the country would ever get better.
E go better, same thing our parents thought and believed. Them don the clock close to 80 now and things never still better. grin

A politician I know blew over N50M in the just concluded LG election where I base on frivolous things.
I know the money came from the state gov purse while people are surfing in hardship.
A country some people still believe would get better. grin

Believe it or not, Nigeria is just a hustling ground for few who found themselves in power. Gather the money and export it abroad for families and friends.

Tag me a pessimist, we don already know this things since childhood.
