What exactly do they need gun for?? They have armed civil defence, tomorrow VIO will request for gun, lastma will request for gun, traffic warden will request for gun, neighbourhood watch will request for gun, in the end they all just want to be aggressive towards the road users. Rubbish

For me, it's ok for FRSC to bear arms. Consider their commanders moving around without armed men, what of those on guard duties that are supposed to secure impounded vehicles. One FRSC senior officer that was abducted my unknown gunmen along Aba road, if he had a van with armed escort, they wouldn't have tried it. Don't always think of patrol operations because drivers use their civility for granted.

For those who think it is a good idea for FRSC to carry gun, go check the casualty figures now, and also when these guns get to their (FRSC) hands.

Re: Reps Pass Bill To Allow FRSC Officials Carry Guns by Nobody: 6:37pm On Oct 10, 2024
Road safety that should normally not exist. Something they should disband and offload people in it to join police.
Re: Reps Pass Bill To Allow FRSC Officials Carry Guns by Ready2speak: 6:39pm On Oct 10, 2024
Carry Guns for inspecting vehicles and checking over speeding? Should have been FRSC in the first place if not misplacement of priorities of previous governments especially military regimes?

Over here what a single agency will take care of, we end up having so many agencies doing same job and putting a strain of the national purse.

Even with FRSC, police still have residual powers.
It is all a bleeped up system.

I must praise the unit responsible for evacuating injured persons during accidents.

In my own opinion, i dont see the need for them to be armed. On a normal day, every Nigerian with licenced weapon feels untouchable.

You see those criminals amongst them that look for bad portion of the road to cause more traffic jams and extorting vehicles and also those ones that attach themselves to Army checkpoint and Police Checkpoins, God go catch Una one day!
I second your comment!

Everyday in Nigeria, new problem is created by government.

This is now one thousand and one ways to die in this country.

They would start coming out in the night.

Imagine frustrated officer saying stop, what would he do next if driver no obey or make U-turn.... What about innocent bystander?
