The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has appealed to Nigerians to offer prayers for their leaders, regardless of how bad the situation may seem.

The Sultan made the remarks during an event at the University of Ilorin yesterday.

The Sultan emphasized that instead of cursing or condemning leaders, Nigerians should pray for them, as such prayers might lead to positive changes.

He said, “Even if a leader is bad, pray for him. Almighty Allah can make him turn a new leaf and become a better person.”

He urged the public to adopt a supportive attitude towards leadership for the good of the country.

The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the Secretary-General of KU8+, Professor Francisca Oladipo.

Fagbemi, while chairing the event, echoed similar sentiments, encouraging Nigerians to focus on encouraging their leaders rather than constantly criticizing them.

Prayer without work is dead (leads to failure), says Saint Paul. Leaders need to accept their failures and put work into practice. The current administration is nothing to write home about. The suffering is on the increase. Heaven help those who help themselves. Time will tell as injustice becomes a norm, resistance becomes a duty.
The great revolution won't need an announcement to take place.

We get better things to pray about rather then people in leadership who see themselves as next to God.

Yoruba will say teyan ba huwa adura, adura matele, teyan bade huwa epe ,tanba sadura fun epemamo meaning

Your actions will make any prayer said against you effective or ineffective and so even if all the religious leaders gather on your head to curse you,if you dont do anything that will make the curse effective, it's all null and void.

In other words if you don't do,plan,conspire to do ill on another person,if the whole nigeria gather to curse you, nothing will happen. In equal vein if you are treacherous, malicious, quick to do evil,quick to destroy, quick to malign and the while nigeria prays for you, the prayer is in vain because your actions will render the prayer ineffective

That's why the bible says faith (prayer) without works (actions) is dead.
