Whoever drove them should never have made a detour at that Ihiala. It is always safer to remain on the expressway even though it is a longer route (well, that is what I was told as I stopped going to the east by road more than 7 years ago and the last I did, I drove through the expressway all the way to Owerri and then Umuahia). The atrocities happen once you enter those side roads. May they be rescued safe. I don't know why my people have chosen this way of life. It is sad.

That axis of Anambra State has been a den for kidnappers for many years now.

Even many indigenes of Ihiala and other Ibos living in Abuja, Lagos and other cities have said online and offline that they discretely visit OR have totally avoided going to that Anambra State for fear of being kidnapped or getting killed by the so-called "unknown gun men" who are infact well known to be part of the NOTORIOUSLY violent secessionist groups. The sports journalists should have flown from Lagos State by air to Uyo in Akwa Ibom State instead of traveling by road.

A proper threat assessment of that road travel route WASN'T done by them and now, one of the kidnapped journalists is dead, but gallant security agents rescued the others alive. My deep condolences go to the family of Kola, the gentleman who was killed during the kidnapping of the journalists.
