My Response To A Youth Who Said We “Lack Basic Infrastructure” In Nigeria by Kemetian(op):
I laughed out loud after I read one of you Nigerian youths complaining that the country is not working because we “lack basic infrastructure”.

After laughing, I became very angry. 😠

This was my response to the young man.

…………………..

YOU HAVE “BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE” IN NIGERIA.

For more than we have EVER had.

IN MY DAYS WE HAD NO PHONES, EXCEPT FOR THE TINY FEW ELITE WITH LAND LINES.

NO INTERNET, NO BRT, NO TRAINS, NO SHOPRITE, NO YOUTUBE WHERE YOU CAN GO ON AND LEARN ANY SKILL FOR FREE, AND START A BUSINESS THE FOLLOWING MONTH, NO SMARTPHONES POWERED BY MULTI BILLION DOLLAR FIBRE OPTIC CABLES FUNDED BY THE NIGERIAN GOVT, WHICH IS WHY TODAY YOU CAN START A FULL-BLOWN BUSINESS ON YOUR PHONE, AND RUN IT ON YOUR PHONE IN YOUR BEDROOM, AND BE EARNING DOLLARS.

You can go on YouTube and learn Forex, or Crypto, or Digital Marketing, or Affiliate Marketing, or even start a YouTube channel!

Earning dollars freely!

MY GENERATION IN THE 1980s and 90s had none of this.

To start or run a business it was about running around and rushing in and out of MOLUES and sitting in traffic for hours on end just to reach a business partner to give him a simple message, since there were no phones or email.

When you reach there they will tell you he has traveled.

Back into the Molue and heavy traffic.

Whole day wasted.

I mean, you guys are in FCKING PARADISE compared to our lives in the past.

YET, ALL YOU DO IS MOAN AND MOAN ALL DAY AND NIGHT.

Your problem is you are LAZY, USELESS, and don’t want to use your BRAINS.

Of course there are many youths doing good things. They sat down and LEARNED A SKILL that they can use to make money.

One young girl in Enugu just uses her phone to go around recording interesting stuff about the state, and posts them on her YouTube channel. She has tens of thousands of subscribers from all over the world. DOLLARS!

Other girls in the same Enugu are using their phones to do hook-ups and Olosho business while blaming Tinubu, “Nigeria”, and “lack of basic infrastructure” for their choice of Olosho work.

So this country is not about Tinubu or APC or PDP.

It’s about how you want to apply yourself.

When YOU are ready to do the right thing, you will begin to enjoy your country.

Because MAKE NO MISTAKE. In this country, people are BALLING.

You really believe fiber optic cables are funded by the Nigerian government?
As for the others, you obviously have not been to another country that's why you think Nigeria has basic infrastructure.

There were malls in the past ok. Kingsway where people could afford to buy so many things like uncle Ben's rice, ice cream. And these were ordinary people earning minimum wage back then. There were libraries that helped tge reading culture that this Internet age has eroded. Nowadays you see people shouting when they have to read 10 lines that it is long.

Been to “another country”?

Are you saying every other country has basic infrastructure except Nigeria?

Someone needs to dump your sorry behind in South Sudan or Sierra Leone for a month.

THEN you will know you have “basic infrastructure” in Nigeria.

Plus NOT ONLY does Nigeria FUND fibre optic cables, she has a multi billion dollar program to EXPAND the fibre optic network, to make Nigerians even more digitally empowered and connected than they are today!

Hehehehe!
Very funny human being! In this country people are balling! Even in Afghanistan, Somalia the worst places on earth people are balling! What the people want is the ability to come from nothing and know no one and climb the ladder base on merit and not connection.

The people deserve a quality life!
When the people complain of lack of infrastructure… there need potable water.
Do you even believe you deserve to have pipeborn water right to the doorstep of your house and you pay and connect? And don’t need you and your family to walk hundreds of miles with bucket to get water and children’s having to return from school and then instead of resting and doing their home work , will have to walk a mile to get water?
Do you believe it is not your duty to buy electric pools and contribute buy transformers as communities. Go to your public universities, the hostels are full beyond their intended capacity. Same with lecture halls!

What about public health systems .
Some of una mumu too much! Because a few are balling , doesn’t mean millions of people dont lack the basic necessities of life.
Make una d get conscience

The op has no knowledge of what basic infrastructure is...
It is this kind of op that supports bad leaders.
What percentage of Nigerians have access to the internet ? Good roads and constant electricity...

Basic infrastructure refers to the fundamental facilities, systems, and structures that support the functioning of a society, economy, and nation...

Instead of sitting at home COUNTING MEGAWATTS on your smartphone or computer in order to abuse the govt, use that same time, energy, and data to go on YouTube and learn how to start a RENEWABLE ENERGY business, so you can CAPITALISE on the low output.

Mumu. So it’s “bad road” that made you to be useless?

You ask “What percentage of Nigerians have access to the internet?”

Well, considering we have over 120 MILLION connected lines the last time I checked, it’s certainly not a negligible number of people.

The question is not Access to the internet.

The question is “What do you do with that access?”

Too many of you are using it for foolish and idiotic activities, from abusing the govt all day on social media to doing Olosho runs, to wasting time on TikTok, SnapChat, Instagram, etc.

Meanwhile SENSIBLE FOLKS are using their internet access to learn new skills like FOREX, or CODING, and are raking in thousands of dollars every blessed month!

To date, not a single LGA in all of the 774 LGAs in Nigeria can boast of any of the following
■ Clean water supply to homes
■ Robust sewage and water management system
■ Effective Waste management system
■ Good schools with world-standard educational and Skills training services
■ Internet connectivity in both homes and businesses
■ Electricity supply to homes and businesses(through building of dams, use of wind turbines, and better distribution services)
■ World Standard equipped Healthcare network
■ Sturdy road network complete
■ Passenger Rail system linking at least the major towns and cities
■ Network of Libraries with free access to members of the public to support learning
■ Better prison facilities and rehabilitation programs
■ Expansion of police-community programs to help capture crimes across all parts of the state.
■ Excellent Gas transmission network for the direct piping of gas into homes. , etc.

Yet, people like OP are paid and deployed by politicians against the Nigerian people to gaslight them into thinking they not only have enough with nothing but they are also to blame for why they do not use all that nothing to their benefit. Welcome to Nigeria in the last 25 years. grin

There are traders in Alaba market who ONLY sell renewable energy solutions.

for you to even create this thread shows you don't reason..
Take a barber for example a barber needs electricity even major industries need electricity to produce goods and services...
Fuel is also expensive making usage of generators unfeasible.

Mobile data is expensive, but not too expensive to use on OLOSHO runs, abusing the govt on Twitter and Nairaland daily, and watching skits on TikTok.

Look, the realistic thing is that people deserve to have access to 24hr power supply. And they don't need to build their own infrastructure to have it.
Is it not a shame that in this age and time, after 64 years of independence Nigerians CAn not enjoy regular power supply? And you think a sensible answer is to ask a regular individual to go and start a small power company. Show us your own power company. Let's start from there.

Nigerians are tough people. In spite of the hard and harsh environment brought about by years of bad negligent governance, many Nigerians are still trudging on, working hard to survive and take care of their families while your government continues to steal and push burdensome policies on the people. Don't rubbish the efforts of ordinary Nigerians please. We deserve to do better with all the natural resources we have, and agricultural potential too.
