The embattled acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum has said he is happy that Nigerians who collected food items and clothes to vote for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election are currently facing the hardship most.

Damagum said Nigerians should not be pitied because they are currently seeing the consequences of trading their votes for items like spaghetti and wrappers.

Damagum mentioned this after a close-door meeting with the governor and other stakeholders of the PDP on Friday.

"The APC was never ready to govern, so what good could possibly come from them?” he queried.

“Those who accepted spaghetti and wrappers to bring in this government are suffering the most, and this should serve as a lesson. We must seek credible, proven, and tested leaders who are genuinely prepared to govern, not those who simply say, "Emilokan" ” he stated.

The embattled PDP chairman also expressed concerns over the continued hardship many Nigerians are enduring, which he attributed to policies from Tinubu’s administration.

It was earlier reported that Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday also issued an order preventing the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from suspending Damagum.

The court order was sequel to response to a suit filed by Senator Umar El-Gash Maina, who challenged the party’s plans to remove Damagum.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the factional National Working Committee of PDP had suspended Damagum and the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu over allegations of anti-party activities.
