What most of you are not aware of is that western liberal arts are dominated by self hating white liberals who now promote cultures and languages of exotic people across the planet towards antagonising their own White European Culture. These Western Liberal Arts establishment seek to promote exotic cultures that can stand their ground against white imperialism. The focus is to promote languages and cultures that have a rich history for you can't study a language without studying the culture of the people and studying culture requires a delve into the history of that people. Yoruba and Hausa are promoted because these two languages are from two great African civilisations. The Ibo have none and so studying it will only expose Ibo precolonial society as one lacking substance and so further the colonial mandate to "tame those savages". Ibo language is not studied just as much as no one has any interest to study the language of the primitive pygmy people in the Congo. The Western Liberal Arts promotion of certain African languages alongside their culture and history is not motivated by an altrustic academic quest but rather meant to further demonize European Colonial past. So these western liberal departments seek out those African societies that had a rich history and sophisticated civilization to promote. That's the honest truth. Promoting Ibo language will only put Ibo pre colonial society under the microscope and if this is done will only bring about ridicule to Ibos. |

BitterTruth0001:Okay read your statement again and see who is bias here, we beg lol.... well anything that will grease your ego... just that I have a lot of Igbo friends who see clearly above tribalism ... for your info a typical Yoruba man will push his Yoruba Identity first before any religion or affiliation ..... we don't care if you reject us we are who we are we are Yoruba You mentioned Hausa language ... shallow mind read about Swahili and check how many country in Africa speak that language .... Yoruba is been recorgnise along with it because both within and outside Africa many country still use it as a language Brazil, Cuba to mention few .. victim mentality won't take you anywhere |

It is not true that Igbos are not proud of their culture. The real issue is that few students apply to study Igbo in the universities. Another thing is that number and wide distribution is important Hausas and Yorubas are well distributed in Africa and they have large population Igbos are small in number and not indigenous to many countries as Hausas especially |

julaion:You have not mention any of the reason Igbos are extremely proud of their culture and identity The main reason is because Igbos don't have rich history as Hausas and Yorubas and that's why foreigners don't see the importance of learning Igbo language Then few students apply to study Igbo in the universities. Another thing is that number and wide distribution is important Hausas and Yorubas are well distributed in Africa and they have large population Igbos are small in number and not indigenous to many countries as Hausas especially |

Shadomaan7:more like we Igbos have sidelined ourselves, why won't Igbo be unknown, when our fuulish Igbo brothers would travel overseas and be forming phoney, you go see Yoruba people proudly communicating with their language, same with Hausa but Igbo man go see fellow Igbo man dey form phoney, I witnessed this thing many times in London when I travel, I met my fellow Igbo man wey be from Imo state for Barking station northeast London, funny thing the ediot was speaking with his mother on the phone we were in the same train 🚆, immediately he finished I communicated with him in Igbo just to show brotherly to my greatest surprise the fool come dey form phoney for me as if he doesn't understand what I was saying but this was the same ediot that was speaking local Owerri dialect for his mom over the phone. Not just him but thousands of Igbos in diaspora do that especially from Imo state. Forming useless phoney. But you see Yoruba proudly speaking their language even with their kids. So I am not surprised it has to do with our fuulish brothers there that decided to alienate our language |

Biodun556:and who told you Igbos have no rich history who made you spokesperson for Nigerian cultures abeg shift. The main reason is that Igbos don't like speaking promoting their language like other tribes maybe recently we have started trying but before you hardly see Igbos commune with their fellow Igbo brothers in their native tongue in diaspora. |

Biodun556:Other than some very primitive languages that are studied as part of linguistic research such as the tongue clicking language of the Bushmen tribe in South Africa and Namibia or the languages of the Amazonian isolated tribes people, no one studies any language for the sake of linguistics. Language studies are always tied to cultural and history of the people. There's nothing worth studying Ibo language because from the perspective of the western liberal , it will only reaffirm the western imperialism just as the Spanish conquest of the Mayan and Aztecs due to their brute civilization. No one is making any effort to revive the Phoenician language because we all know how brutal they were . If you are in a literature class reviewing Oliver Twist, you must study the Dickinson era or Victorian England. Any Shakespearian literature will require a delve into Edwardian England. The Austria-Hungarian empire gave the world classics such as Snowhite, Cinderella that showcased a romantic royal setting. Studying Ibo language won't go beyond 1940s because that's the height of Ibo society and it could not be termed Ibo in any sense because it was westernised . |

Biodun556:Yes. Because the igbos shocked the so called whites other tribes worship, by building the first surface to air missile in self defense, refined their own crude oil during the civil war, built an airport; something more than 80% of Africans struggle to build on their own till date. Igbo languages are taught in the US and maybe not widely distributed because the tribe itself is not conquering like the English, Hausa, etc. They do not fight to conquer territories through swords/languages/religion etc , they are known to have practiced the purest form of democracy known to mankind The mantra of Igbo is mmadu ( the beauty of man) Live and let live! |

In Ernest do we really need anyone to authenticate our language Igbo language wasn't taken seriously in the times past There weren't many scholars involved in Igbo language The only one that comes to my mind as a kid was Dr F C Ogbalu of To me Worrying about African language is even the least of worries What are we doing about underdevelopment, poverty and backwardness across Africa Believing oyibo Man to vet your language then you feel you have arrived to me is inferiority complex We have many issues bedeviling us That should be our worries In conclusion Igbo parents should endeavor there children know Igbo language both writing and reading Know the vowels, sound and right way of pronouncing it I thank God my parents made us learn to read and write Igbo language from childhood I was a fluent Igbo language reader as young as age 9 I was already reading Igbo Bible even in Sunday school lesson |

heniford2:You only need to develop your language within your territory, control your own resources and by all means stop invaders: this is the whole essence of progressive living for all humans in a particular environment. It is not in our DNA to conquer. That's why the world can't understand democracy from the point of raw hardwork and ingenuity, therefore, practice democracy and autocracy through conquest. It may interest you to know, world community only united with Nigeria when Biafra struck the first surface to air missile (one of the purest ingredients of democracy) ... they do not understand this aspect of self defense, but fear the Biafrans would go ahead to develop a surface to surface missile if not stopped. The Belief in surface to surface missile can not be considered acts of self defense but an adulterated ingredient of democracy (obtainable in so called developed countries) |

RevDesm0ndJuju:Story story How does the oyibo view Africa as a whole? Which sophisticated civilization? Show me one black African tribe that had written language documented from past? Absolutely non We have Hebrews, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, japanese, Indian, Nepal, etc languages with documentation as far back as 4000 years ago So forget all these sophisticated civilization stuff The only people that had an edge over other tribes in Nigeria was the Fulani s because of there exposure and influence of Islam over 600 years ago That's why they still have that advantage over other tribes in Nigeria There where renowned Islamic scholars of repute who were Africans like world renowned ibn bhatuta But claiming sophistication There wasn't anything sophisticated about it |
