Nigerian military needs to change its training methods, it looks more sadistic and more like a punishment than training.
Then again, most people who physically participate in the recruitment exercise wouldn't be shortlisted, those who didn't pass through the rigorous training would be shortlisted based on connections and nominations

That is the best way to train a military man. They build their endurance level. When they are caught by enemies, they can withstand any pressure given.

You need to understand the reason behind such trainings
How is flogging you giving you endurance training.

It just makes you a bitter soul.

You just said my mind sir.

At this age you should know TECH is the future.
Hustle with no muscle.

If the army can incorporate tech into most of it's activities, then the youth will join in mass

That isn’t totally true and you know
With the risk involved most people feel that the incentives are way too low
Teaching jobs and military jobs are the most honorable jobs one can do in service to his country
Big respect to them
But look at the incentives attached to them
You just buttressed the expert's opinion

You join the military to fight the slave master (polithiefcians) wars all because to put food on your table.

Tueh!

P. S: Back then especially when I was a kid, I respect (not fear) the uniform officers especially the duo of the police officers and soldiers. Now, the story is not the same, I have no respect for them anymore. I don't even fear them, I only fear their treacherous tactics. Nigerian uniform officers are cursed. I said it with my full chest.
Na your M0thèr dey cursed ...

The German army from 1914 would beat the Naija army now. When T-Pain threatened Burkina, when they rattled sabre back, the drug lord ran back to his cave to count his kilos.

Nigeria doesn’t have up to 10% of opening in IT jobs that America has, yet Americans join their army

Nigeria government and also coming to useless conclusion. Why will I serve in the military of a country I don’t believe in

The young Nigerians dream has shifted from finding a well paying job to finding a means to leave the country but one man in Lagos thinks IT jobs is the problem.

You expect youth to join the military and protect the Politicians after all they've eaten in this country?
Re: IT Jobs And Harsh Training Discouraging Youths From Military Service by Blue3k(m): 9:44pm On Oct 12, 2024
Even the children of high ranking soldiers dont join military. Buhari, Gowan, Obasanjo are some examples off the top of my head. The military doesn't have the prestige or economic value other jobs offer.
Re: IT Jobs And Harsh Training Discouraging Youths From Military Service by Aarenaija: 10:03pm On Oct 12, 2024
The only people that rings patriotism song in Nigeria today are politicians. The put their hands in the cooky jars and live larger at the expense of the country, send their kids to study abroad and but want the children of the poor to go join the military and fight a senseless war they know the origin and know how to end it but would not because it is money spinning.
They should send their own kids to war front first then Nigerian youths would take them serious.

Nigeria is not worth dying for at least for now.

Muslim North doesn't care. They love the military because they cannot compete elsewhere. So, leave the noncommissioned military jobs for them while the South takes up all the slots in their states for the commissioned roles.

1. You proudly announced how you disrespected your senior.
2. In the military, age and length does not count only seniority by rank and/or number counts. You of all people should know that.
3. You got away with what you did just because he was still fresh but I can guarantee you a captain will mess you up. Two reasons why he did not take your issue up was because he did not have enough hold on you and you were the least of his problems at that time.
4. You must have been cautious of him thereby avoiding him which made your work area toxic for you more than him. In other words, you used your own hands to create a toxic working area for yourself
5. You created and enemy for yourself with your actions. If he decides to tell his coursmates and friends about your unruly behaviour, you would have made more enemies that you do not even know about. The more superior enemies you have, the more your problems in the military
6. Las las, you were envious of him and his bright career prospects and the life he was living being the centre stage of girls and everyone around him

Reduce unnecessary hierarchical wickedness.

Enhance professionalism by infusing elite training methods and acquisition of modern equipment that utilize modern technologies.

Young people can't finish watching a semblance of mode of operation of modern army in movies and then join Nigerian Army that is operating with basic or outdated poor equipment.
We don't even need movies; we see them in action daily. Crass, unruly, with a flagrant disdain for the civilian population they are meant to protect.

Why are they deceiving themselves as if they don't know it's because they are playing politics with soldiers' lives in the Sabisa forest. They are treating soldiers like lab rats in Sabisa forest.
Re: IT Jobs And Harsh Training Discouraging Youths From Military Service by yinkeys(m): 12:25am On Oct 13, 2024
They keep dismissing soldiers for intangible reasons like we see online
Poorly equipped soldiers at war front
Poor wages & welfare for low ranked personnels
Everyone must have godfather these days to be protected from harsh treatment
Using the lives of soldiers as a means to play chess in politics, all for profit
