So I got to the medical stage of both the UBA and First Bank 2024 graduate Trainee, and am confused on which to go with.

It’s has proven to be a difficult decision at the moment.

I would appreciate any advice from experienced bankers or people who have experienced any or both banks.

Help this little one make a decision.

Thanks
So, I started with another bank but I’m currently with one of the 2 banks you listed. In my journey with my former employer and the current one, I’ve met and had discussions with people from he other bank (the one I’ve not worked in) and I can connect you with someone there. There is no straight answer here, both have their pros and cons. I believe there are lots of things to consider so that you can make an informed decision. I don’t think it’s okay to just give an advice without getting your answers to some questions as I believe where you start your banking career do matter. So, if you don’t mind, you can connect via mail and I’ll respond.

Are there banks that paid that amount for entry level in Nigeria? That will be 2.5m based on today exchange rate.

Would you earn at least $1500 monthly?

They're a lot of factors you should consider when choosing a bank that you want to start your career with.
I am a Banker.

I have friends that work with both banks.
Most of my friends that went through the UBA program ended up in sales. Only a microscopic few ended up in branch operations.
In terms of pay, UBA cannot match up to first Bank.
My advise, seek God face first.
Then pick First Bank.
I'm with Stanbic IBTC by the way.

2 evil Banks who use Age criteria to discriminate against Applicants contributing to unemployment in Nigeria.

They accept u based on age.
They lay you off also based on age.

It's only a matter of time.

At this moment, the pay is not really the ish. Nigerians are natural survivors.
I want where I can grow career wise. Next 5 years, I would say I have achieved something with my life.
Am looking for a place that treats their staffs with kindness in as much as banking is not easy, it’s shouldn’t be my deathtrap.
And for the record guys, it’s a SHE😀

What a funny statement. What a contradicton!

Are you seeking God's face to do his will or to do yours? Lol.

See, my advise, seek God's face first but choose First Bank. If you are going to choose First Bank anyway, why seek God's face?

Continue to confuse yourself in the name of living abroad.
Just to remind you a 35 year old medical Doctor in UK slump and died this morning. Due to stress.
2 days ago another Nigerian student in UK slump and died in his 2 working place as he is hustling to pay his school fees.
Leave us in Nigeria alone.

when posting come out. ask the question. chose bank that posts you to a location you will have salary after paying transport and renting house
Not necessarily. In one's nascent career, getting close to the head office or a major branch supercedes managing transport and housing costs. Those who work in major locations get noticed faster than others and their career grow rapidly for it.

Nonsense! She would grow faster than her counterpart who engages in a small business. Give it four years and watch the outcomes. After that period, if she decides to start her own business, she will skyrocket more than those who have done it for ages. That is the benefit of working in a structured environment during the early stage of one's post-graduation years. You people glamorise entrepreneurship too much in Nigeria.

they have no fking idea what entrepreneurship is beyond reselling of low quality Chinese goods

i had the convo with my partner about this today - a guy who had been working for us on and off said he wantd to strat working on his own

which leads to the question - do you have any network of potential clients who you have built a relationship with? do you have any resources of your own , not the company resources?

its not so much about a structured environment as it is about gathering actual experience, network , connections and tricks of the trade.

I didn't know old generation banks pay their entry level staff high salaries. It means a top manager can earn close to 5million monthly.
No entry level banking job pay less than 300k.... Fidelity is 364k, FBN 320k (I'm not so sure), Stanbic 400k plus, UBA 307k plus... GTB 400K Plus.
