i laughed in the past knowing what the future was cooking after listening to the audio government Buhari was presiding over....
i listened to hiw food and other main stays would be almost impossible to derive and analytically, i coined this period as one of WAR.

Yes it was necessary but it was too soon to do so. Not even all the refineries are not working in the country. They collect billions to pay themselves but won't divert that money to fix the refineries or sell them to private investors to help the country. All I see are greedy politicians in power to steal monies for themselves.

The palliative measures are failed measures from all end indications.
It's not transparently accounted for.

Before subsidy is removed, there should have been cheaper alternatives for cheaper source of power. Like;

more higher Generation&distribution of Electricity, so people buy less fuel/diesel for Generators.

Secure borders to completely avoid smuggling of petrol from Nigeria to other countries.

Probe past subsidy payments&contracts so that we retrieve lots of stolen money thru this same subsidy scams.

Audit the actual amount of fuel that Government is paying subsidy for.

Increase the average production of crude from the paltry 1.6Million barrels per day to above 2.5Million barrels per day so we can benefit by meeting Opec Production Quota. All we need to do is block Oil Theft, Pipe vandalism, Crude Smuggling. If we even block all these leakages you would be surprised it would increase our crude production by 50% at least.
The increase in crude production would also help Dangote and other smaller refineries get more crude to refine into fuel and the rest.


Tinubu had no reason to remove the subsidy without first doing all or some of the above.

Worse part is that he now has to secretly bring back subsidy behind our backs cause he floated the Naira. Which made the petrol price multiply to an astronomical cost.

Tinubu fetched water from an ocean with a basket with the hope to fill up a very big hole somewhere else.
