Nollywood actress Regina Daniel receives criticism when she marks her stepson Amir Nwoko’s 18th birthday, just a few days after celebrating her own birthday.

On Sunday, October 14, Regina sent the celebrant happy pictures and videos along with a warm birthday greeting. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In her message, Regina expressed her pride in watching Amir grow into a “handsome, intelligent, compassionate, and humble young man.”

She added a loving note, saying:
“Happy 18th birthday to my adorable big boy. Watching you grow into a handsome, intelligent, compassionate and humble young man gladdens my heart. I pray that God continues to protect and watch over you in Jesus’ name. Like I always say, all you have to do is make the family proud. Love you, son.”

Regina’s post drew a variety of reactions from fans and while some praised her for her warmth and affection, others questioned the phrasing of her message.

A few users highlighted the age difference between Regina, 25, and Amir, now 18, suggesting that her statement about “watching him grow” seemed out of place.

One user, @ferguson_igwe, commented: “Watching him grow? 22 yrs and 18 yrs no be age grade?”

Others came to her defence, with @osibekee stating: “She has been married for five years, meaning he was 13 and now 18. Isn’t that watching him grow enough?”
