Vice President Kassim Shettima, speaking at the Nigeria Economic Summit in Abuja, expressed deep empathy on behalf of himself and President Bola Tinubu for the hardships Nigerians are facing due to the government’s economic reforms.

Despite the challenges, Shettima stated that the reforms are crucial to achieving sustainable growth.

“Our hearts go out to Nigerians, especially the poor and young, enduring difficult times,” Shettima said. “But we have no option if we must return Nigeria to the path of sustainable economic growth.”

He emphasized that Nigeria’s economy has been volatile, over-reliant on oil, and unable to create enough jobs for the country’s rapidly growing population. To address this, Shettima outlined the government’s focus on diversifying the economy through sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and the digital economy.

He also highlighted the government’s efforts to support small and medium-sized businesses, improve infrastructure, and remove regulatory bottlenecks. Shettima noted that the administration has introduced single-digit interest loans for manufacturers and a new credit corporation to offer consumer loans to workers.

On security, the Vice President stressed the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and banditry, while also implementing fiscal reforms like subsidy removal and debt management to stabilize the economy.

Shettima urged collaboration between the public and private sectors to overcome Nigeria’s economic challenges, adding that the Nigeria Economic Summit serves as a platform to foster dialogue and drive actionable recommendations for growth and stability.

“The challenges are significant, but they are manageable,” Shettima concluded. “With the right policies, partnerships, and cohesion, Nigeria can emerge stronger, more competitive, and resilient.”

That’s a good one coming Shettima.

Letting people know that, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has been working tirelessly to put the nation on track.

People just believe a long time decayed state will rejuvenate in 12 months, and that’s where many got it wrong.

It’s a phase that is bound to yield the best of results over time.

So, the do-nothing approach of this administration towards corruption and insecurity that ravages the Nigerian system and the lives of Nigeria is all to the benefit of Nigerians. undecided

2. It has been volatile and over-reliant on oil and that happens to be why the members of this administration have continued to make all efforts to acquire as much of Nigeria's oil assets as well as other resources for themselves while doing next to nothing about the issues of corruption, insecurity and lack of governance all together? undecided

how can a first lady in a country that is dying economically gave out 500,000,000 from no where.
As if that's not enough, the first son equally gave out 500,000,000.
And as if that's not enough, the first lady Again in not less than a month, gave out 1,000,000,000 for planting of flowers in 1 university alone.
This is after the first man of the country have consumed $ 100,000,000 on Aircraft purchase, and all we get to hear is it will take time for their economic policies to make impact.

There's alternative
The alternative is to stop corruption in all facets of our national life, prune down the cost of governance and misplaced priorities and support MSMEs in a bid to rev up productivity.

But are you guys ready to do the hard work?
By the first year anniversary of your administration: The president got a new jet and new car,
You his vice got a new residence,
His wife got billions for cars,
The senate got "prayers" in the boxes and millions for SUVs,
Judges got 300% salary increase and new land allocations,
And overbloated and padded budgets to boot.
All those I mentioned above are not up to 3% of the population of this country.
Conversely, by the same 1 year anniversary:
About 80-85% of the country got rice, millet and other grains in audio format.
Increase in petrol pump price by over 500%
Increase in electricity tariff by 200%
Increase in gas cost by 100%
General Increase in cost of goods and services by average of 100%
And minimum wage increment of a little over 100%
Where's the cng buses promised?
Where's the 75bn support for MSMEs promised?
Where's the 150bn to support youth innovation?
Where's food security state of emergency announced?
Ask yourself. As a Nigerian, am I better off than I was before May 2023?
