Whenever these Bretton woods organizations urge you on know that you are on the path of total collapse abi are they not the people that recommended SAP that Nigeria has not been able to recover from after more than 30yrs? How many people will remain after the so-called 15yrs of hardship/reforms? |

Angrymode:Banks actually work for you if they know you are in fact willing to form a beneficial and lasting relationship with them. World bank is no different. Nigeria, however, does not seem to want to do anything in the interest of its people. So, that poses a problem for a bank knowing that chances are high that Corruption in Nigeria will continue to guzzle up over 90% of the funds it releases leaving the bank with a debt likely unserviced in the end. ![]() |

NwaNimo1:World Bank is one of the most evil organizations on the planet...they keep lending Nigeria money for the leaders to steal and transfer it all back to them, and then they come and talk about reforms, subsidy removals and currency devaluation Satanic people |

Kobojunkie:"Just did what IMF and World bank said" is what I said. Read slowly again. And if they did that, it isn't because IMF suggested it to them. Name one one country that ever attained first world status by impoverishing it's people, jerking up taxes and removing subsidies? That has always been IMF's formula. Even when Mao Zedong was implementing the Great leap forward, it was about drifting towards massive industrialisation not just enforcing austerity measures without a plan. |

DeLaRue:These aren't reforms in any practical sense; what we are seeing is simply the current APC government divesting themselves of financial obligations to the citizens, so that they can free up huge money to be stolen by them and their associates/fronts |

Kobojunkie:IBB under the advice of the imf/wb sap program devalued the naira l from 1.75 to N22. I was a shocker back then. Fact. Abi did you not experience sap? Someone close to me lost his house in UK, because he took a loan with his house as collateral, successfully sold the goods, at the point of remmiting the funds back to UK bank, naira within a few days was devalued. IBB also liberalized the oil industry, it was under him private investors came into the sector. The major thing though to be remembered was the devaluation of the naira to enable market forces determine the rate. https://thesun.ng/nae-warns-tinubu-against-devaluation-of-naira/?amp

TEYA:Really? For the sake of competence, can you please post the information on where you find these IMF policies you insist are always the case though? ![]() 2. Wait a second....what stops Nigeria from, as we speak, drifting towards massive industrialization, and implementing an effective safety net program, even as that removes the expensive fuel subsidy? Is it the IMF or the World Bank? ![]() |

nedekid:1. I witnessed SAP myself and experienced devaluation. I was hit by it but I expected good things to follow as promised. But it didn't take long to realize that a lot of what the government said it would do— most of the promises to local industry including farmers and manufacturers— it never actually did. The MAMSER program for instance which was supposed to rally the whole country and rev up local production of goods and services for example comes to mind. It failed miserably because IBB refused to massively fund it as promised. ![]() 2. I also witnessed the fact that rather than completely implementing the deregulation of market forces and privation of State-owned companies, the government chose to run with its own ideas. Also, rather than reduce government spending and bloat, the government chose to do other things, fueling systemic corruption instead. The government also refused to a large extent to invest a great deal in the local economy and industrialization. ![]() |
