All other departments in horror flicks prod, might slack, but the graphics team stays in overdrive! Just hit me while reviewing movie poster, the horror genre consistently delivers some of the most fire artwork in the game. Talk about a genre with a visual flex! 😩 🎨💀

NobleStag007:Yeah, I agree. The statement opened room for doubts to think he didn't start the revolt. But it's not the statement that cause uprising. Cos the slaves that started it did not even remember he was in the dungeon, tied up. If they were inspired by him, they would certainly remember to safe him. Your second point makes sense too. As we all know very bad people tend to leave longer than the good ones. This is why I prefer to live my life not too good a person and not too bad as well. I actually missed the part where the Prince died. Obviously, the king himself has lost it when he didn't get the treasures. The ministers were already against him. To avoid revenge and another revolt from the slaves who now have the treasures, it's best remove him. The movie seriously deserved a second watch. |

Westman001:He made those statements in the open. He should have considered his friend and swallow his anger. He's living better than ordinary slave na. Slaves destroyed everything and lives and they're still the one at lose end. And slavery will be way harsher and difficult than it was. Part 2 will be intense. I see japanese coming back. King losing the country Slaves getting hit hard Rebellion dies The guy saves the nation and becomes a king. Slaves and king are born same. Probably that's the point the movie is trying to prove |

NobleStag007:Lolzz ![]() How was he living better than ordinary slaves? A slave is a slave guy. There's no ordinary or extraordinary in having no authority and freedom over ones' live. It'll be good if they make a sequel of it. But if it's your storyline they follow as you put up there. It won't be necessary anymore. It won't sell like that. |

abduleez1:I read the piece and The title is as clickbaity as they come and the entire thing feels oxymoronic because this adaptation is 100% Hollywood as far as we know, and i still can't see how it helps Nollywood get ahead. Why is the industry just showing interest now that a foreign industry has picked it up? why haven't they done an adaptation since the last one yester yester years ago? Fact is, If Hollywood continues to pick up Nigerian literature to adapt, the praises sadly does not come to Nollywood. Nollywood can start doing themselves a favor, by adapting the 100s of good literature we have here. |

oyaskii:The article was also kind of funny to me.... I was expecting to see about 5-10 upcoming works adapted from books but I no see shi shi aside from the Things Fall Apart. The only reasonable thing I gleaned from it is the adaptation of Eleshin Oba from Wole Soyinka's "The Kings Horseman". Which I didn't know was an adaptation. Nollywood should quickly get their acts together cos if another industry first us to adapt Buchi Emecheta's Joys of Motherhood, e go too pain me. Cos I feel that story can only be fully understood from persons ingrained in African culture. Only an African asides a Nigerian can fully understand and appreciate its ethno-cultural themes. |
| Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 9:46am On Oct 15, 2024 |
Illusioneffect:Those stories are blockbusters in Nigeria's level. A Things Fall Apart adaptation will always be regarded as a blockbuster in Nigeria no matter who's adapting it. Same as Half of a Yellow Sun, Joys of Motherhood, Purple Hibiscus, The Last Days at Forcados High School, Arrow of God etc... Damn, I need to go read some of these I missed. Hollywood financial power and ours is different. |
| Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by oyaskii(m): 9:46am On Oct 15, 2024 |
abduleez1:Exactly...The article was just bland. We have gone over the list of books they can adapt...if they start doing that, they might be up to something... Meanwhile...Africa International Film Festival is coming up, next month, and some next blend of indie gems that i think you should keep an eye out for, have been selected for screening... Breathe of Life (2023) was the close film of last year's festival and we all know how much of a hit it became...the festival is a big deal....a big break from the nonsense, Netflix serves each week..

abduleez1:Maannn...I haven't really read any of Chimamanda Adichie's book despite all the raves they get. The only one i have read was, a short novella titled "Notes on Grief", and it was suggested to me, to get over a personal loss 😞. It was so good, and the writing style was top notch... I need to get into her works more 🤔 |

Illusioneffect:Nah bro.... That's just dictionary meaning and academic. A blockbuster movie also means the money put into it, and pedigree of filmmakers behind it and scope of the film. Then why are upcoming films like Minecraft, Wicked, Superman: Legacy etc tagged blockbusters despite not even out yet to measure their box office success. Why is Joker Folie á Deaux tagged a blockbuster flop? |
