Kobojunkie:They deliberately skipped all that, u can see the anger and embarrassment on shetima face at the first part of the indian speech. He deliberately pointed out the woes of the country on few elites! Mehn I was shocked that he could say that to the ministers and vp face. The second part was a shocker, he acknowledged 2003-2007 presidency I think thats Obasanjo as being the best and judicious period our oil was well managed |

Kobojunkie:Are you seriously asking me these stupid questions? Was the Structural Adjustment Programme of IBB's era not an IMF promoted policy? And was it not the IMF that has been hounding us since Goodluck's era to remove fuel subsidy? You said what stops Nigeria from, as we speak, drifting towards massive industrialization, and implementing an effective safety net program, even as that removes the expensive fuel subsidy? Is it the IMF or the World Bank?" Well the answer is simple! Their stooge has been empowered with the support of ethnic bigots like you; a drug trafficker whose files are with them. Africa's emancipation is far from what they want and your president, with the records they have on him is as helpless as Puff Daddy in the hands of the Feds . |

Solseal007:Yet Nigerians, without shame, get their news from the mouths of the likes of Shettima and their Propaganda machines. ![]() 2. Obasanjo came in attempting to finally implement many of the same SAP reforms that were suggested back during the Babangida regime, reforms IBB refused to implement — the man instead stole Nigeria blind for Pete's sake. The move to begin privatization of government-owned companies, including NNPC, NEPA, etc., — which should have taken place during the IBB regime — finally began during Obasanjo's time. Even the initial shift towards setting up a Safety net for Nigerians, among other reforms, also began during the Obasanjo regime, but many of them were truncated by Yar Adua. ![]() |

StaffofOrayan:If the government is corrupt, that is the problem of the people of Nigeria, no the World Bank can instead tell the people and their government that if they successfully implement and maintain the reforms they should be able to begin greatly benefitting within 15 years. ![]() Where in the world do you folks get off thinking the World Bank is some authority set up to monitor corruption and ineptitude in your economy abeg? Where? Can you equally go to your local Bank and make the same demands of it.... suggest that it should probe the individual lives of its customers to ensure first there are no corrupt practices before it chooses to do so with the individual entity or not. I don't understand where you people come up with this notion that the World Bank ought to be Nigeria's corruption monitor or nanny! ![]() |

Kobojunkie:Have you heard of the phrase 'all things being equal' in economics? If you make a 15 year prediction then you have to assume all things would remain thesame! I don't know how else to explain to you! |
| Re: Nigeria Must Sustain 15 Years Of Reforms To Ensure Impact — World Bank by Kobojunkie: 3:01pm On Oct 15, 2024 |
abu99err:Yes, Nigeria was finally able to begin implementing many of the same SAP reforms that IBB did not implement back in the 80s/90s during the Obasanjo days. That is part of how Obasanjo was able to secure debt relief from Nigeria's debt back in the period between 2000 and 2007, and at the same time, help build the Excess Crude Accounts(ECA) back then to about $50 billion as well. Yes, Obasanjo made strides in the actual IMPLEMENTATION Of many of the reforms. We saw the selling off of many State-Owned businesses during that time. We also saw the implementation of many fiscal policies which Nigerian polices enjoy to this day. ![]() |

StaffofOrayan:It isn't the job of the World Bank to make all things remain the same... that job belongs to Nigerians and their Government. I mean, this isn't rocket science for Pete's sake! 🙄🙄🙄 If I handed you a formula or a cooking recipe and told you that if you implemented the given formula, you would have delicious food to last you a week. Why in the world would you also expect me to come to monitor you to make sure you don't corrupt the formulae or whatever to ensure success? NO be grown-ups aka a nation Nigeria and Nigerians be? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 |

| Re: Nigeria Must Sustain 15 Years Of Reforms To Ensure Impact — World Bank by Kobojunkie: 3:27pm On Oct 15, 2024 |
StaffofOrayan:Your choice to be a very bad cook has nothing to do with the recipe but you. Yes, it is your choice to be a very bad cook. ![]() I can tell you this because, in the U.S. Army, the cooks who work in the kitchens in their submarines get just 5 weeks of training in how to cook for 1000s of people — just 5 weeks. And many of those who get that training are not people who enjoyed cooking before being assigned to the kitchen. Yet you rarely hear of the cooks on their teams being bad cooks because all that is required to be a cook good is training— discipline. So, your choice to remain a bad cook is exactly that, your f-king choice. ![]() Nigerians too can enjoy many of the same quality of living that people in developed countries have if they can get their government and corruption checked. APC has wrought terrible havoc on the Nigerian economy and the lives of the people. But it remains that the only ones who can stand up to make Nigeria a better place for the people are the people. No external power can do that; not even the World Bank sanctioning Nigeria can make that happen. ![]() |
