First, you would need to show me where your corrupt Nigerian Government has ever successfully implemented any reform in its entire history.

2. Subsidy, we know has always been a scam against Nigerians and needs to be removed. However, 18 months into the current administration, it has still not been implemented. Don't you see a trend here with corrupt government? It cannot correctly implement common-sense policies because it knows it would be working against its greedy interest if it did so.

So if the govt is corrupt, where is the world Bank seeing positive changes after15 years of reform from?

Obasanjo came in attempting to finally implement many of the same SAP reforms that were suggested back during the Babangida regime, reforms IBB refused to implement — the man instead stole Nigeria blind for Pete's sake. The move to begin privatization of government-owned companies, including NNPC, NEPA, etc., — which should have taken place during the IBB regime — finally began during Obasanjo's time. Even the initial shift towards setting up a Safety net for Nigerians, among other reforms, also began during the Obasanjo regime, but many of them were truncated by Yar Adua.

Can you equally go to your local Bank and make the same demands of it.... suggest that it should probe the individual lives of its customers to ensure first there are no corrupt practices before it chooses to do so with the individual entity or not. I don't understand where you people come up with this notion that the World Bank ought to be Nigeria's corruption monitor or nanny!

If you make a 15 year prediction then you have to assume all things would remain thesame!

Yes, Nigeria was finally able to begin implementing many of the same SAP reforms that IBB did not implement back in the 80s/90s during the Obasanjo days. That is part of how Obasanjo was able to secure debt relief from Nigeria's debt back in the period between 2000 and 2007, and at the same time, help build the Excess Crude Accounts(ECA) back then to about $50 billion as well. Yes, Obasanjo made strides in the actual IMPLEMENTATION Of many of the reforms. We saw the selling off of many State-Owned businesses during that time. We also saw the implementation of many fiscal policies which Nigerian polices enjoy to this day.

I can tell you this because, in the U.S. Army, the cooks who work in the kitchens in their submarines get just 5 weeks of training in how to cook for 1000s of people — just 5 weeks. And many of those who get that training are not people who enjoyed cooking before being assigned to the kitchen. Yet you rarely hear of the cooks on their teams being bad cooks because all that is required to be a cook good is training— discipline. So, your choice to remain a bad cook is exactly that, your f-king choice.

Nigerians too can enjoy many of the same quality of living that people in developed countries have if they can get their government and corruption checked. APC has wrought terrible havoc on the Nigerian economy and the lives of the people. But it remains that the only ones who can stand up to make Nigeria a better place for the people are the people. No external power can do that; not even the World Bank sanctioning Nigeria can make that happen.
