It's only the rightful thing since the Sahara desert also used to be a lush wetland in the past before drought turned it to a dry land.

Sahara used to be a fertile area with lots of grassland, rivers, trees, and streams. And a lot of people lived there.

Some thousands of years ago, the area began drying up. As a result, a lot of people were displaced. Who knows, many west african tribes were forced to move towards the coast as a result.

It's an interesting bit of history.
what caused it to be dried up and lose its fertility?
Cause is this not same desert Ishmael and Hagar almost died of thirst before God opened a fountain of water to quench their thirst

Was it not climate change that turned it to a desert in the first place?
there's a theory that what turned it to a desert was a movement of the tectonic plates shifting and sending the water down into the Atlantic. The river Niger and Benue down to the tributaries in the Niger Delta are all evidence of this massive deluge of water rushing down in great volume as it empties into the Atlantic.

Sahara dessert n Amazon alternate every 10,000 years
The statement that the "Sahara Desert and the Amazon alternate every 10,000 years" is not accurate, but it may be loosely related to known climate cycles affecting these regions.

The Sahara Desert has experienced significant climatic shifts in the past. Around 10,000 years ago, during the African Humid Period (AHP), the Sahara was much greener and supported lakes, rivers, and vegetation. This was caused by changes in the Earth's orbit, which affected the African monsoon system and increased rainfall in the region. However, over time, this period of greenery ended as the climate became drier, and the Sahara reverted to desert conditions.

Similarly, the Amazon rainforest has been affected by climate changes over millennia, but not in the same cyclical pattern as the Sahara. The Amazon has remained largely forested for millions of years, although it has experienced periods of drying and deforestation, particularly during the ice ages.

In a nutshell, while the Sahara has gone through wet and dry phases every few thousand years due to orbital changes, there is no evidence of a regular 10,000-year alternation with the Amazon. Both regions are influenced by complex, independent climate factors, not a shared cyclical relationship.

If these kinds of heavy rains begin to fall in the Sahara desert and the Sahel, those criminal herders or pastoralists who have clashed with agriculturists and farmers for decades because of the pressure for arable lands would CEASE to migrate illegally from Niger, Mali, Mauretania, Cameroon, etc, into countries like Nigeria, Benin Republic, etc, to forment trouble and stay put in their countries to rear their cattle for meat, leather, and milk.

It was climate change that ravaged the Sahara regions several millennia ago, and NOW with another wave of climate change, we hope this would be permanent for some decades to come. Period.

For those of you doubting God's word. Here you go.

Isaiah 43:19 KJV
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Never doubt God's word. That's how I know Israel would shut the eyes of an entire people for ever.

Experts link the unusual rainfall to climate change
I knew they would chip this into the article one way or the other. Climate change is the white man’s scarecrow. I’m beginning to lose fear of the concept. The climate changed, so? Life continues.

Which book of geography did you read about this myth? Sahara desert had been in existence since the beginning of human creation and never covered by grass, neither had it ever been a fertile land at any point in time. Humans only settled in places called Oasis where you can find water or lake only, and not the entire area. The population of settlers in the Oasis reduced with time as a result of desert encroachment. Same is being experienced at the lake Chad basin today as a large proportion of the lake has dried up, which poses a great danger to human existence and farming activities in that axis.

In conclusion, humans once lived in the sahara desert but only occupied insignificant areas as explained above. It's one of the wonders of the world, which is less celebrated. You could travel more than one hour by air and you're still in Sahara desert.
