We'll blame the Libyans for their condemnable treatment against our superstars but their treatment of the Nigerian Flag to me is well deserved. The apex football authority in Libya while expressing their apologies and regrets seemingly noted that they experienced a similar incident while in Nigeria. The Nigerian Football Federation noted that the Libyans although never disclosed their travel plans, however landed in Port-Harcourt instead of their supposed destination which is Uyo. The football authority also went further to note that in their efforts to resolve the unpleasant developments, they made flight arrangements for the visitors who apparently opted out because of the cost implications. The Main Twist: Now, anyone in his right senses would know that the cost implications were quoted in U.S dollars and if so, how much did the NFF officials quote as expenses to convey the visitors by flight from Port-Harcourt to Uyo? Notwithstanding the above, Nigeria and Nigerians generally, don’t have a global reputation of being transparent people, or people with integrity, therefore, it was only natural for the Libyan officials to opt out, considering the possible propensity of being cheated on by whoever is providing the air logistics. The Sleeping Giant: Failing Big Brother Duties There is a common saying that the day Nigeria wakes up, Africa as a continent would rise. It is my observation that Libya is a nation of less than 10 million people which is like 4.5% of Nigeria’s population of 220 million people. Nigeria's GDP is 362.81 billion US dollars in 2023 while that of Libya is 50.49 billion US dollars as reported by World Bank. This puts the Arab nation’s Economy size as approximately 14% of Nigeria’s GDP. So where is the role of the African giant - Nigeria when our supposed guests made a mistake about their flight destination and landed in Port-Harcourt instead of Uyo? What will it cost the Nigerian government through the NFF to arrange flight logistics for our guests in a very hospitable and big brother manner that we always claim to be (i.e., without shifting the costs to them)? I am a patriotic Nigerian, and I was really disappointed that we could not come to the rescue for our small African brothers in our home soil Nigeria when they made a mistake about their flight destination. Disclaimer: This is merely my opinion on the subject so you’re free to argue against it. #Afrifa writes from the darkness that beams your light. |

Exousiang01:Every discerning person knows this your comment digresses from the subject and it is laced with bitterness. Assumptions are the basis of every knowledged because they inform inquiry. You cannot undermine the potency of a logical assumptions. Whatever assumptive statement you read from my post has underlying logic. Your job as a supposed smart person is to counter these arguments with superior logical arguments or assumptions. Other than that, you lack the intellectual basis to ridicule my assumptions. |
