Buying shares is the most useless investment in NG especially if you don't have a stock broker and knowledge about it. The only thing certain from such stock investments in NG is that you will lose at the end of the day. |

Not worth it at all! Someone told me this some months ago. Both parents even have unclaimed dividends too. When you see number of unclaimed dividends running into millions, know say those dividend have little or no value. Last last, na those companies/banks cash out. |

Blitzking:We are basically saying same thing. I am bullish about crypto but there are need for investment cautions too. The last sentence you made, also makes a lot of sense. Everything in life is by risk. Web 3 may offer early adopters real access to financial freedom. |

In a country plagued by extreme inflation and currency devaluation, not all investments are worth your time. Long-term investments in Naira ke? Your father get mind. You could invest N1 million in shares today, and by 2034, that amount might only be enough to buy a bottle of beer (N2m for two bottles ). At least right now, with N1 million, you can still buy a brand new iPhone 14. ![]() |

ppogba:I would be angry too, if all I bought became nearly worthless or due to inflation ,had minimal increase in initial value. Keep your energy for yourself and your kids. As for your stocks and shares, happy investing. But, I'll pass. |

Blitzking:Not even that, ask yourself how many people really get paid substantial amount of money during 2000s Bank recapitalization that the bank are selling shares here and there.... the thing is that many people don't know how these thing work, there is buy and dump in Nigeria share just like in crypto world so if you are buying for long time your investment will be liquidated , the purpose is to buy for some month after of you see some kind of increment compared to when you buy you sell/dump immediately... but many leave it thinking if i leave it for some years like 30 years or 20 years my 10million naira will turn to 100million but in Nigeria your 10million will turn to 00kobo.... |
| Re: My Father's Dividend After 11years Of Investing In Transcorp Shares by harjay1986: 8:20pm On Oct 16, 2024 |
Love800:To me ooh, Government treasury bills or bonds are better for investment compare to buying shares... have seen some people who invested like 5million naira on shares since 2005 and buy now he has nothing because most of the big man who invested billions of naira on the same shares quickly dump it once the see a significant increment in the price there by liquidate the low income investors, that is when the company will be coming with the negative balance for the year and as negative keep coming you can't get your dividend and your share price will be reducing... but on treasury bills or bonds I can say specifically there is one that will even tells you how much you will earn when you buy certain amount of it ... like they will tell you if you invest 10million naira they will let you know that after the tenure of such bill you will receive let say 11million that means they pay u 10% of your investment |

1x2x3:How much did you make from BTC BTC is now almost 65k, how many can afford it? if you put 500 naira in btc today, you wont make any good money in the next 10 years You people just talk any how Whether you invest in crypto or the Nigerian stock exchange, you need to buy in large volume Buying 1000 unit of a share or crypto wont make you any money but when you buy 50M unit shares of a good company, you are likely to make *3 in the coming years. if you are a trader, you are likely to make more every day, just by trading ever day in the stock exchange The same goes for crypto You make money when you buy in large volume |

harjay1986:if you want a safer investment, buy TB or bonds, you are right about it but you see buying shares, it is about volumes, that is why the rich investors always win because they can buy millions of shares and sell for profit, if the stock goes ups. Most big investors, do not hold their shares for long, they are comfortable with making double of their investment but you see those small time investors, they always want to buy 100 unit of a stock and make 1M naira, where is that possible? |

harjay1986:Oh My God Thank you for explaining it to people Crypto really gave me an idea of how investment works even for the concept of shares Buying shares is like trading crypto, you buy low and sell high for profit and move on you do not hodl your shares for ever because you do not know if the company will exist in the next 10 years |
