Kwara State High Court Delivers Verdict on Internet Fraud Cases, SECURITYNEWSNG.COM reports.

Six individuals, Idris Muhammed, Ismail Temitope Mustapha, Oyekola Odunayo, Anthony Slyvester Stephen, Timilehin Adeniyi, and Olayiwola Ayomide Abdulmalik, have been convicted of internet fraud by the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin. The convictions were secured by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Convictions and Sentences

- Idris Muhammed was sentenced to two years imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine and ordered to forfeit his iPhone 13 and $300 to the Federal Government.

- Ismail Temitope Mustapha received one year imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine and was ordered to forfeit his iPhone 11 Pro Max and $300 to the Federal Government.

- Oyekola Odunayo was sentenced to one year imprisonment on count one, two years imprisonment on count two, and two weeks community service on count three, with fines totaling N250,000.

- Anthony Slyvester Stephen received one year imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine and was ordered to forfeit his iPhone 12 and $25 to the Federal Government.

- Timilehin Adeniyi and Olayiwola Ayomide Abdulmalik were each sentenced to six months imprisonment with an option of N200,000 fine, with their phones and restitution monies forfeited to the Federal Government.

The defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges, and prosecution counsel Andrew Akoja and Victoria Igodo presented evidence, including extrajudicial statements, recovered items, and illicit funds.

While EFCC have drain them before taking them to court, we understand everything. The prosecutor would also be looking for soft landing for them.

I think truly our judicial system are Yahoo themselves if not how can a sane and a responsible judge be given option of 200k to correct a wayward criminal boy, how pls how?

Let them at least be honest that they were sentenced to 100K fine, instead of putting 2 years there to fool people

I have never done any fraud and will never support fraud but many of you should pray especially if you work from home.

Pray that efcc don't barge into your compund and arrest you as a Yahoo suspect.

Once they arrest you, you will see your face on TV as a fraudster whether innocent or not.

Police came to my compound, searched my whole house and arrested me.

Why? What have I done?

They said they have incredible lead that people in my compound were partaking in internet fraud, cyber crime and impersonation.

I have never done any of these. I am just a youtuber and blogger.

They said I must reach station.

We got to the station. They searched my phone from morning till evening. I wrote a statement and they asked me to go.

There was no sorry. No compensation. In fact, my laptop I was managing developed fault 1 week later. The laptop repair guy said someone tempered with the hard disk.

I called my barrister friend and he said I should thank God it wasn't efcc or ndlea.

That those guy don't no what is called I am innocent.

I heard that, if you refuse to settle, you will see your face on TV paraded as a criminal.

You don't have any right in Nigeria if you don't have a very fat account and the right connections.

Bottom line, many of these guys paraded as fraudsters may actually be innocent.

Am I the only one thinking that their fines are ridiculous and they'll pay it with just one or two phone calls 🤔

I am not justifying fraud but Nigeria is still standing today because youths have alternative/dubious ways to make money. If not, you wont be sleeping with your two eyes closed with the way APC/PDP are running the country. Those judges understand the situation better. It is really a pity that Nigeria is finished.

This is why I advice every Nigerian youth to go into internet scam ...

If you get caught you can just pay the fine and be on your way to the next bombing.

I heard you can even sort your way out after the raiding ... And then turn those who raided you to your boys who will be giving you tipoff when the next raiding will happen.

this fools here don’t understand all they feel is the envy for them coz they are living the life they dream of, the efcc is the most corrupted organization in Nigeria even worse than police and nepa. My brother is an agent this thieve is building houses everywhere from loots from raid but when he died like a mere chicken i never attended his burial because as you steal in the streets there are street boys planning you as well. Efcc do not even want u to be innocent they will plant an evidence on you and make you write a false statement. Those men are demons but guess what they all die like chickens. My blood brother is an efcc and he was building houses everywhere but he was shot by unknown gun men and he died just like that. His burial was his wife and kid alone nobody attended not even me. His houses he built are rotting away nobody wants anything to do with his dirty money.

If you are an efcc agent reading this ask yourself is that how you want to be remembered when you die? Continue in your evil ways.
