Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Motorcyclist On Lagos-Badagry Expressway by BadNews(op): 10:50pm On Oct 16, 2024
A Hit-And-Run Driver on Wednesday morning killed a motorcyclist at the Limca bus stop axis of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Badagry Unit, Mr William Manga, told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, that the accident occurred at 9.23 am.

He said the command received information on the accident at 9.27 am and its men arrived at the scene at 11.32 am.

“The accident occurred at the Limca bus stop axis of the Badagry Expressway. It involved a Sino Truck and an Ajue Lady’s motorcycle.

“Our rescue team received a call from the Department of State Service office and left the patrol point at Mowo to the accident scene.

‘The victim sustained injuries to the head and died before our team got to the scene and we deposited the corpse at the mortuary of General Hospital in Badagry.

“The second victim was taken to the emergency centre at Badagry Roundabout by officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency,” he said.

He said that nothing was recovered from the victims.

The unit commander urged pedestrians to be more careful while crossing expressways.

Manga also appealed to motorists to observe speed limits and other traffic rules and regulations.

I was travelling from Lagos to asaba in February. I had just over taken a GIG in ore after resting with my younger bro at that same ore. Just 2 mins from where we had a break from driving, I was doing 120/140km when all of a sudden, this bike guy violently swerved his bike from the other express lane to ours knowing that spot/road was very bumpy/uneven (wonder what causes those wrinkles on the road?). He just bounced off the road with is bike and hit his head on the ground right infront of me and the GIG. We both slammed our breaks and watched the drama unfold. He was on the hot ground, stretching his hand while on the ground like as if he was about to let go of something.. this happened within 1 minute. Omo we drove pass oh! Naija's police wouldn't have accepted the fact that his act was intentional..

Some people could be so heartless, irresponsible and inconsiderate. Not even their phones or any personal effects was recovered from either of the victims to at least aid the tracing of their relatives or contacts.

A lot of folks rush there pretending to help but their actual intention is to rob the victim

The Headline is Wrong and misleading to begin with, a bike man who isn't supposed to be on the expressway was riding on the expressway and got hit and died.
But the narrative was demonizing the driver.

not fake news, but fake pix to back it up. Same thing almost happened at that same spot while I was driving on Monday afternoon, a cyclist came out from nowhere straight into the major road without even minding if there's any oncoming vehicle. I had to swerve and just ignore him.

Some drivers run because if they stopped to help the victims, the mobs will lynch them by setting them and their car on fire.

Why would you be doing 140km/hr on Nigerian roads. You guys are the cause of accidents on the road.

I don't do more than 100km/hr on interstate road.

Lagos drivers both commercial drivers, commercial okada riders and private cars drive recklessly and unreasonably. They drive like psychopaths including truck drivers. Have you seen where private cars and commercial cars are competing on the road on who will overtake who like say them go collect trophy for who first go.they don't even mind causing an accident, killing or injuring someone just to prove a rewardless point.

It's bad enough that you have to deal with agberos, street beggars on the road and roadside vendors. See henn my take is that the lagos State government should run a mental health evaluation on all categories of drivers be they commercial or private before they give them drivers licence. Let me not even talk of commercial drivers drinking all kinds of local narcotics before driving or private car drivers drinking while driving undecided

Na him soul dey leave am so as he dey stretch hand like that. Any injury to the head is always major and mostly fatal. If you check am well, na Aboki e go be. There is this arrogance they have even in the face of death, them no care.
Actually, I have never driven 140km/hr before in my over 15yrs of driving and I don't think I will ever drive that till kpai commot for this earth. I hardly do 100km/hr My mind no go just dey at rest... What if the brakes fail? What if a tyre bursts, what if the stirring becomes stuff, what if I suffer a malfunctioning? That's why I hardly get involved in accidents, only that in Nigeria, even when you drive carefully, people will still come and meet you where you dey to hit you. Has happened to me like 4times.

There are more than 5 FRSC checkpoints on that same road , they only know how to collect money and it took them more than an hour to get there, it is so disheartening.
