AFCON: Libya Jittery As CAF Demands Response To Nigeria’s Protest by Islie(op): 8:01am On Oct 18, 2024
The Libyan Football Federation is panicking after being asked by CAF to submit documents relating to the cancellation of the AFCON qualifying Group D match against Nigeria after the latter refused to play the match after their plane was diverted to Labraq Airport and held hostage for 18 hours without food and water.

According to Libya Al-Ahrar Channel, the Secretary-General and person in charge of running the body, Nasser Al-Suwaie, confirmed in a special statement to Libya Al-Ahrar that CAF has given the Libyan and Nigerian associations until the 20th of this month to submit the documents related to this file.

Al-Suwaie revealed that the Libya FA has assigned a specialised lawyer to provide evidence, adding that there may be collusion from some parties within the CAF, but the position of the Libyan Federation is strong.

Al-Suwaie added that the Libyan Federation did not change the course of the plane’s landing to Al-Abraq Airport, and the reason for changing the plane’s landing to Al-Abraq was a decision by the Libyan state, and that the sovereignty of the Libyan state must be respected by everyone.

The Super Eagles returned the country on Monday with gory tales of taking turns to sleep on the bare floor of the airport, with the team manager, Patrick Pascal, explaining that the toilet had been deliberately seriously messed up by the Libyan officials in anticipation of their arrival

CAF should be very high on the list of the most corrupt organizations in the world, the north Africans act as if they are the owner of CAF and the actions of CAF have always confirmed this. Why will North African countries and clubs always play second leg in their homes in every competition? This is where the corruption starts, they can afford to do any nonsense they want and CAF will throw a blind eye, if not for social media, this would have been swept under the carpet as they have always done embarassed

Nigeria should actually concentrate on putting food on the table of citizens. Libya is sending signals that Nigeria is a Shithole nation destroyed by frog eye heroin drug lord.

More of this may come from others who see them like that unless they start getting everything right from credible election , sanitazing judiciary, provision of infrastructure and eliminating poverty.

After investigations, CAF should appropriately sanction the guilty parties, &then arrange a replay in a neutral venue.

What value does Libya even add to CAF?

You said Nigeria treated you badly (even though it is a lie), you did not report to CAF or even the media but turn our game to a civil war in your backyard.

Thank God the Super Eagle did not go by road, maybe they would have been kidnapped by the militia in that country

This off the pitch game is looking stranger than the one they played in Nigeria

The Libya 🇱🇾 football Federation fumbled with that response, they should have just said the plane diverted was the airport and government decision simply no need of saying that is what they did to us in Nigeria so we are doing our too

Why would the Libyan govt be threatened by a civilian plane chartered by a sports team?
If they felt threatened why won't they detain the plane and occupants at touch down? and still did not make any security moves at the diverted airport.
Baseless unbacked excuse🙄🙄
Re: AFCON: Libya Jittery As CAF Demands Response To Nigeria’s Protest by owiko(m): 3:03pm On Oct 18, 2024
They shouldn't just get a pat on the shoulder after the jittering session, because their actions/inactions were devoid of the attributes of good sportsmanship. A few sanctions here and there from CAF should do..
Re: AFCON: Libya Jittery As CAF Demands Response To Nigeria’s Protest by spiSeyi: 3:03pm On Oct 18, 2024
If nah Nigeria CAF would have spoken but this time around CAF has no hidden place bcs the whole world is watching and the Super Eagles team is bigger than CAF and the whole national team in Africa . grin
If CAF try anything funny let Nigeria withdraw from CAF and join the AFC . For example Israel should be in AFC but it join the European FA undecided

If you ask me Libya should be banned from two consecutive CAF competitions and further banned from playing any home games for another 5 years.

This was an act of terrorism in football.
