yeah fossil fuels are been phased out. 20 years is too long. Thing is Dangote is already old so he has nothing to lose.
You think Dangote didn't know all these before going into refinery business?

If those reasons were reasonable he would not have set up the refinery.

The richest black man in the world that has his main and only business in one of the poorest poverty capital of the world

The irony

The rocafellers, the Elon musks, bill gates, etc those are the only ones worthy of being hailed as great entrepreneurs.

They made money in a sound and level playing field

Dangote deserves to be in jail

If dangote was Chinese he would have been executed by now

A man that simply improverised a whole country by single handedly monopolising industries the citizens of that country need

Imagine an individual having the only functioning refinery that the whole 200 million naira need to function .
What had stopped anybody from building refinery for over 30years of no refinery in Nigeria 🤡🤡

I saw this coming.. his wealth and net worth doubled at the expense of Nigerians.

Cement that used to be affordable when we were importing became very expensive when Dangote started producing locally.

The same thing has started with PMS.. what Nigerians were buying and prices of commodities reasonable before Dangote reninery, he built his refinery to start producing PMS, again the price of petrol has jumped to above #1,000 per litre still heading for #2,500 per litre courtsey of this greedy man called Dangote.

I don't know the kind of leaders we have that allow one man destroy the country's economy for his selfish gains.. Same Dangote engaged in FX fraud with CBN under Emefiele and noone is talking about it.
Carry your frustration commot here.

Employment(directly and indirectly)
Improved economic activities
Improved revenue for the state(taxes)
Money stays in the economy
And so much more

We need more capitalists like Dangote in the country

To bad that after coming of the refinery, price is still has high as it is now. Tinubu didn't show leadership about the refinery PMS price and Dangote didn't also tell Nigerian's how much he his selling. Nothing really changed.

I still think it's too late for mega refinary project.

Combustion engine is on the last stage of it peak. No world billionaires will build a mega refinary at this time as they consider future and long time projects.

In the next 20-30 years combustion engine will likely phase out in developed world. In places like China recharge cars, scooter, truck and bike has already taking over.

In Nigeria for example we don't buy new cars, instead we buy used cars from develop world. What this means is whatever they use is what we buy

If they complete stop combustion engine and move to electric it only means on the next 5 to 10 years those cars will end up here. So there is no future in oil.

Dangote should think about making engine oil and other products in other to recoup money wasted on that refinary on time.
And it has reduced their use of crude oil.

Dangote didn't think about
You see this analysis you made; I'm a hundred percent sure the hoard of ivy league economist and market analysts at his disposal also know this and they continued anyway. Dangote, at his level doesn't need to think much. He just manages his thinkers.

What you don't get is... as the ICE cars are been phased away; where are they been sent to? You got it right. Africa as a continent still has decades to use ICE... I'm sure as the decades passes, Dangote will also move with the trend. Electric cars have come and are here to stay quite true but the time it will take for each region to assimulate the tech is quite different... then there are industries that still run on ICE gens. I'm sure you know that renewable power isn't exactly very viable for industries yet, unless they wanna make it custom made for their plants...

lol the origin of this is one guy who was vehemently arguing with me that onyema is a billionaire in dollars that he is worth 3 billion dollars. Only to find out yesterday after the USA chase down all his global assets and bank accounts that he is worth 14 million dollars. That’s the origin lol

Capitalist
Capitalism is not entirely bad.
What is bad is when a government totally abandons or ignores critical policies that cater for the welfare and needs of the people.
Capitalism with good blend of welfare economics yields better results.

I think you're not looking at this well.
Most cars Nigerians buy are maybe 2015 models max. In fact, we're still using 2003 corolla, just to tell you that we will still have an influx of plenty petrol cars for the next 30 years sef.
At the end of the day, petrol cars will be phased out sha and he'll probably have made his profits.

your point would make sense if cars were the only engines using Fuel/Oil/diesel......even if all cars world wide go electric it's effect in the Oil industry would be less than 25%......

Dangote had planned this since 2007 when he bought the refineries that was later revoked by Yar'Adua. So it's like let me just fulfill this old ambition. How many countries in the world do you see setting up these type of crude oil refineries now??

..it's not like that... Dangote refinery is a private company which have to make profit...is through the profit Dangote will use to pay the workers ,staff working in the refinery their salaries, the running and maintenance and repairs of the refinery, to pay back the huge loans he collected from the banks in which he used to build the refinery..if he does not make profit he cannot do all of this things...and the refinery will shut down and it's same people criticizing him of greediness and selfishness that will be laughing at him that his refinery has shut down
And it's the high exchange rate..…1700 naira to a dollar that is causing the high costs of fuel..if the exchange rate is like from 1000 naira gradually down to 400 naira to a dollar the price of fuel will reduce and come down
