The latest Nigeria Development Update from the World Bank reveals a significant rise in poverty levels, with over 129 million Nigerians now living below the national poverty line. According to the report, released on Thursday in Abuja, the percentage of Nigerians living in poverty has grown from 40.1% in 2018 to 56% in 2024. This alarming trend has emerged as public concerns over escalating hunger and inflation intensify, significantly affecting living standards across the country The report attributes this sharp rise in poverty to factors such as inflation, weak economic management, and external shocks like natural disasters and insecurity. Other significant factors include the impact of the COVID-19 recession and the high cost of the demonetization policy in early 2023. https://www.centliv.com/2024/10/18/56-of-nigerias-population-now-living-in-poverty-world-bank/ .

World Bank reports this like a BAD thing, which it is. But Nigerian Politicians will NOT do ANYTHING about it. They will NOT do anything about it because they are smart and EXTREMELY devious. Nigerian Politicians know that 129 Million people living below the national poverty line is 129 Million potential voters who would sell their votes for 5k and a loaf of bread. Poverty is a NASTY weapon of subjugation. You are TOO hungry and weak to fight back with a revolution. And you would do ANYTHING for money, including voting and even praising the CRIMINALS responsible for your poverty in the first place. A BRUTAL double-edged sword is poverty. |

Another achievement of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration. He promised to continue from where Buhari stopped and is doing just exactly that. Tinubu is just an arrogant failure. |

Still the same world bank that is improverishing third world countries population with their brutal economic policies which the senseless corrupt leaders of these sorry nations often accept wholeheartedly without consideration. |

Racoon:Corruption, not the World Bank, is responsible for impoverishing third-world countries and populations. ![]() Listen for a second to what Jamie Dimon, the JPMorgan Chase CEO had to say on the loans the World Bank gives to even Third World Countries to learn a little of how investors who back the loans the World Bank gives to Third World countries are not some father Christmas or piggy bank somewhere doling out money. They are groups, individuals who desire returns on their investments, and for that to happen, they apply stringent conditions on the loans they allow to ensure that no matter what the people on the other side allow, they at least get their money back. ![]() |
