Effects of long term socialism

There is nothing wrong with socialism, but the problem it always runs into is the money issue. People are a greedy and evil bunch who won't do anything for free. As a result, eventually things go down the drain, because no money.

North Korea had a famine, Cuba has blackouts, Venezuela has issues with everything.

At some point, people got to live in the real world.

Cuba's population is half of Lagos State's population yet they generate a whopping 6.8GW of electricity while Nigeria with 250m people struggle to generate 4000MW , ask yourself question before responding to my comment.

The countries that subsidise electricity and have no blackouts are either of

1. Have their people pay high taxes to get the subsidised power.

2. Pay the subsides in the form of production subsides, not the explicit subsides that Nigeria does.

3. Pay subsides as targeted subsides. To get an idea...let's assume that Frog eyes decides to do targeted subsides, and his people draw up plans that only those who earn 40000 monthly should get the subsidy. That means if you get 40100 monthy you don't get subsidy.

4. Or have massive debt which is silently crippling their econony...Iran( and the government is scared to cut the subsidies because they get kicked out...meanwhile their debt grows)...or eventually can't maintian the subsides and collapse (North Korea in 1990;s before China propped them up again).


Oga, if you ran a business where over 80% of your customers did not pay full price for your product, and 40% refused to pay, and government gave you nothing for your resulting loss, would your business survive.?

Try and see the big picture sometimes.

What opposition? Didn't Fashola then in opposition or speaking for the opposition ask Nigerians to vote out PDP and Jonathan and have light in 6 months?

APC have had close to 10 years to solve those decades old problems but have made them worse. Tell me which area of our national life has improved under APC: is it the economy, security, fight against corruption, energy supply, food security, social cohesion and national unity? Just tell me what they have done to improve on what they inherited?

They want stable electricityike USand UK but they want it to be free 😢.

Ask them to pay tax for better road and amenities they say government is a thief but they can quickly compare us to Us and UK that pay for almost 99.9% of what they are enjoying.

just one black out in like an 100 years and you are displaying your ignorance in full glare. Some parts of France since yesterday has been in total darkness, no electricity supply should they also reconcile with the US? Or Nigeria with constant power outages should also reconcile with the US?

Where is the talk of reconciling with the US coming from?
