Sometime in December last year i started seeing strange transactions on my GTB account.

They were all to the same customer - DEMERGE Nigria ltd.

these transactions were all late in the evening.

I did not have much money in the account, and my immediate response was to simply move the money to a different account.

I went to GTB to report in the new year. as a result of the transaction, i destroyed my card. i never got any feedback from GTB. There is a supermarket in festac whose salesgirls may be facilitating this potential fraud, but i am not absolutely sure.

This morning i noticed a new demerge deduction.

i was about to cintact GTB, but i remebered nothing came out of the last engagement

i am wondering of other people have experienced this particular issue.

how can this issue be escalated beyond GTB?

no head way - however, i think it may be tied to purchases from Microsoft's online sales platforms - Microsoft store/Xbox PC app store
i made some game purchases over the weekend, and next thing, one showed up as DEMERGE, with the exact same figure
i do not completely understand whats going on.

Simply go.to your App and disable the card from all transaction from web and also disable the international as well.

Demerge Gtb processes international transactions, mostly transactions that involves dollars. So it’s either your money in your account was used to fund a dollar account, or was used shop in international stores

when i tried withdrawing from payoneer i noticed this was the same company who paid me

i just checked through my payment history to confirm that the payment goes tru the merchant by TEMU

Did you link your card to any online payment system?

This looks like a rogue loan app.

Go to GTB and report your card missing and get a new one.

This same exact thing happened to a close friend of mine who took a loan from a loan app and despite meeting his obligation fully , they were still stealing his money via his card.

They will first do a #1 deduction to check if there is money and when it goes through they will start deducting from the account by placing the required payment of about 75k then when that doesn't go through due to lack of funds they will try their luck on lower sums.

This my friend did the same thing you did by moving his funds from his account but whenever any of his business associates pays into his account they will swoop in and start stealing his money.

The only thing I will advise you is to do what I told my friend which is to request for a new debit card and stop taking loans from online loan sharks.

A blast from the past. Nothing like that. I think what happened was my card was linked to my Microsoft account and my kids were buying some minecraft dlc without supervision. (I was out of town)
