The causes of grid collapse in Nigeria spread across all participants, from generation companies to transmission and distribution. From generation companies, there is the inadequacy of gas supply, improper coordination of plants and gas pipelines, poor generation availability,”

I use a portable electric cooker. I normally start my cooking from 12a.m-3a.m most times cos of unstable power supply in the day time. I don't use gas, just this e-cooker. I'll have to wait till God knows when, I'm getting used to this I guess. I'll celebrate hard the day I don't have to depend on or wait for light.
ALOL !! you reminded of a place i stayed that year naa mostly mid night nepa go give light ... we spend the day sleeping, and wait till midnite to iron, watch movies, my neighbours will even play music loud cos thats the only time you go see your gbedu test

Once the light on ... the ways doors go open 1st to pump .. up floor vs people down

Nation grid just collapsed for the third time in one week but the president and his vice are out of the country gallivanting.

Why not decentralize power generation and let each state or 2-3 states generate and distribute power for their residents?

Nigerians generate enough dirt to generate 20 hours of electricity daily. Add solar, wind, and hydro and we can have 24 hour power!

Haba.
Failed nation of Things, it is the president & his vice that will give u ungrateful things electricity?

Re: National Grid Suffers A Major Setback. by ofwest47(m): 12:46pm On Oct 19, 2024
National Grid suffers major collapse,
Nigeria Electric Power supply systems collapses, was this the first time or more than 100 times from the word go since Independence. They say when the head is off it will be too late to cry again. A country in need of 200000Mw but with just less than 5000Mw yesterday, Since the word go the largest power supply operations in the country was just 8500 Mw in 1982 that was at the country's need of about 32000Mw.
From A to Z which Federal governmental administration ever thought of power supply productions improvement operations in the country No. Remember during Tafawa Balewa and Yakubu Gowon military administration Kainji Hydro power Station which was started by the BRITISH Colonial Administration meant for 1200 Mw was commissioned by Yakubu Gowon with just 320Mw.
Also remember Babangida military administration who say No! to governmental power supply productions money spending in the country that led to NEPA STRIKE that led to 11Jailed NEPA Union members and remember the over $16 billion dollars Power supply productions contracts by OBASANJO ADMINISTRATION.
So when the head is off it will be too late to cry. So the power supply systems in the country has been dead and dead for a long time.

Anyone from that tribe shouting Tinubu this, Tinubu that, is just a smoke screen. They all support him 1000% because he is their own.

Lol, we all know politics is driven by "selfish or personal interests". Nigerians can support any party or leader they want, just like Reno Omokri is backing Tinubu's government. And by the way, Reno isn't even Yoruba!

You can't single out one ethnic group for being biased just because they have political power. No tribe is perfect. For instance, during Buhari's time in power, did the Hausa people remove him because of his poor performance? Nope, they let him finish his eight years, despite all our complaints and lamentations. If an Igbo man were to be in power and things weren't looking up, it's likely that Igbo people would still support him. A testament to this fact is the hype around the Igbo candidate Obi, even though his track records doesn't match Tinubu's, Atiku's, or Kwankwaso's. It's mainly because his supporters, mostly Igbo people, want him to win.

All major tribes play this tribal politics game, and honestly, that's a big reason Nigeria hasn't progressed much since independence. We need to move beyond these tribal divisions if we want to see real change.

Peace!

Nigeria is just a failed state. We got independence since 1960, till today electricity is still the biggest problem of nigeria.
The truth is Nigeria as one nation will never work, divide this country now let everyone go their separate ways. Nigeria is just like joining USA, Russia, Ghana, Qatar, China and North Korea together
The national grid was built in 1960s, is it idiotic and madness of the highest order to still expect it to carry today's demand for power.

I suspected it was National grid with the way the light went off. The current just kept reducing until it vanished. I sha hope they haven't spoilt my appliances.

But on a more serious note. This is the 3rd time this grid has collapsed in less than a week.

Someone told me that Nigeria is heading towards total blackout. I'm beginning to believe him.
Exactly what I told someone earlier.

So, it has gotten to the point where we can now tell when the national grid is having an episode.
It has become too frequent.
