Nwibe Weeps Over Mass Murder In Nibo, Anambra Community

Chief Barth Nwibe, a businessman and philanthropist has condemned the gruesome murder of youths in Nibo Community In Awka South Local Government Area on Sunday.

Nwibe who commiserated with the community in a Statement on Monday described the incident as mass murder which was not acceptable in contemporary society.

It would be recalled that no fewer than 10 youths were killed in Nibo on Sunday when yet to be identified gunmen attacked the community leaving the streets littered with corpses.

The Police Command in Anambra through SP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer said it was a case of suspected cult-related clash

Nwibe said the increasing trend of cult related killings was regrettable especially in Anambra where high value was placed on human life.

The governorship hopeful said the killings was another sad reminder of the degenerating security which was reducing Anambra to a failed state under the current administration.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss that I received the news of the senseless mass killing of Nibo youth during the Onwa Asaa' festival.

“Mass murder is condemnable and unacceptable in any sane society. It is more worrisome that the incident happened in broad daylight yet the preparators escaped unchallenged.

“I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the traditional ruler and people of Nibo for this huge loss,” he said.

Nwibe reiterated his call for better ease of doing business and industrialisation which will create employment opportunities, reduce poverty and keep the youth economically engaged.

He said insecurity had become a major threat to lives and property, noting that no state will be a liveable homeland under an uncertain and vulnerable atmosphere

A case of brothers killing brothers without feeling of guilt but lets pass the blame to FG.

Soludo has allowed many youths arm themselves with guns and machetes in the name of Soludo’s security.

He must please dismember the ones operating in Onitsha. Recently a young man was dragged by Soludo’s boys on the head bridge and going towards the river. The accused him of touting and promised him “ e ga fu ju anya”. The four of the wielded brand new machetes while dragging that fellow. People were just looking and were saying that would be the end for the fellow.

How some of these people are allowed to be armed and nothing is done by government makes mockery of the claim to tackle insecurity in the state.

Governor Soludo, iota is your responsibility to secure the state. Awka is a hotbed for cultism and every now and then wars break out, leaving many cultists and innocent citizens dead. Please ensure, along with the CP, Army and vigilantes that these evil young man are dealt with according to the law.

If such people could shoot randomly into that crowd, how are we such that crowded places would be safe, especially with Christmas approaching?
