World Bank Tells Tinubu To Cut 'Wasteful Expenditures' Under His Watch Including Purchase Of Vehicles

The World Bank has ranked the Nigerian government as weak in terms of cutting wasteful expenditures.

According to the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update seen by SaharaReporters, the global financial institution said the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu must start “cutting wasteful expenditures that are not essential such as purchase of vehicles, external training, among others”.

SaharaReporters has before now reported how the Tinubu-led administration spent billions on purchase of SUVs.

For instance it was reported that the Tinubu administration spent N9.2billion in three months to purchase State House vehicles.

Another report had noted how the Tinubu-led government paid N250 million for decorations within five days for First Lady events.

The Tinubu government also spent another sum of N14 billion on renovations, honorariums and purchase of forex despite the economic hardship facing the country.

There have been concerns over financial transparency and accountability by the Tinubu-led administration especially with management of the country’s stated scarce resource as a point of concern.

Recently, the Tinubu administration bought a Presidential jet quoted to cost N150 billion.

This development is even as Nigeria continues to lament scarce resources, banking on loans to fund its deficit and in the process incurring high debt servicing figures.

The Senior Vice President of the World Bank, Indermit Gill, had recently said the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government must sustain the current economic “reforms” for “at least another 10 to 15 years to transform its economy.”

He had spoken at the 30th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja on October 14, and also attracted discontentment from several quarters in the country.

Yet the same world bank or Brentwood institution kept borrowing these kleptomanics neck-constricting loans that they are looting endlessly while they continue to impoverish their nations.

Tinubu is a man of the people. He will listen to their advice and cut down on extravagant spending.

He is still learning on the job and will get better as time goes on.

Seems like world bank is shopping for another candidate. They are no longer hailing him
World bank represents the west.
When they stop admonishing you in secret, know that something is cooking.

They don't want to be seen as the devil. Tinubu is making them one as his handlers are blaming the hardship on world bank's economic policies.
And they don't want Africa to wake up and challenge their policies that never work.

Only tomorrow will tell. If they continue wailing like this, it's gonna be an interesting time ahead.
More popcorn.

He tells Nigerians to bear the pains of his wicked and draconian policies but goes on a wasteful spending spree, buying a new aircraft, a new all-black armoured Cadillac Escalade SUV, a yacht, travelling to the UK and France every now and then for medical checkups, but couldn't build a single world-class hospital in the same Lagos state we were told he built from scratch and turned into a world-class city.

Thunder 🔥 Tinubu

Nigeria has good enough credit rating so why should the World Bank not loan it money? undecided

Here, have a listen to what Jaime Dimon of JP Morgan Chase — one of the investors that supplies the funds for the loans Nigeria gets from the World Bank — had to say about how investors invest their money. Listen between 1:37:07 — 1:39:07 of the following video.
https://www.youtube.com/live/YibCmv8g3kU?si=_Y_Jd_94KSDwYnaK

I could not find the video itself but I found the snippet embedded in the above video. By the way, JP Morgan Chase is one of the investors behind the loans countries can obtain from the World Bank & IMF. There are consumers/investors — not Father Christmas —behind those loans and they too want to be sure they will get their money back in every case. undecided

Re: Stop Wasting Billions On Vehicles, Cut Expenditures - World Bank Tells Tinubu by Tianamen1:
Looking at the chart, Tinubu has successfully implemented 6 out of 12 policies of the World Bank. All six directly affect the ordinary person. The other six are-:

- Improve balance sheet transparency (reduce corruption).
- Strengthen non-oil revenues.
- Increase transparency of oil revenues (reduce corruption).
- Reduce the cost of governance.
-Reduce trade restrictions that increase prices and poverty.
-Scale up and provide relief to the population.

These policies benefit the masses and negatively affect the Elite, so Tinubu is not interested in implementing them.
Rather than Nigerians to face Tinubu, they blame the World Bank for Tinubu's skewed implementation of reforms.

The World Bank is not a media organization, it is a financial institution that provides loans and grants to the governments of poorer countries for the purpose of pursuing capital projects. It has now given President Bola Tinubu some advice on how to cut wasteful expenditures.

May God bless Nigeria for ever!

@Raccoon, I finally got block of the event in the following video. If you wish to skip through most of the interview, you can go straight to start from 17:26 to listen again to what Jamie Dimon said about investors and investment in Subsaharan Africa. Investors behind those World Bank loans want assurance that their money will be paid back over time. undecided
