Speaker Abbas Flags Off Construction Of Access Road To Judges' Quarters In Abuja by CapitalLens(op): 6:02pm On Oct 22, 2024

…COMMENDS WIKE’S TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP

1. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 flagged off the construction of the access road from Ring Road 1 by N16 to the Judges' Quarters in Katampe District of Abuja, as well as the construction of internal roads within Judges' Quarters.

2. Speaking during the flag-off exercise, the Speaker who was represented at the occasion by the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu said the provision of infrastructure in an urban centre like Abuja was not only an economic necessity but also crucial to fostering development, enhancing economic growth and improving the well-being of the citizens

3. He acknowledged the laudable initiatives under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that are aimed at addressing the infrastructure deficit in the country and commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his transformative leadership in the FCT since assuming office.

4. Hon Abbas said the FCT Minister has hit the ground running, initiating projects that address the critical needs of the growing city of Abuja and pledged the continued support of the National Assembly for the development efforts in the FCT.

5. He said, “From road construction to urban renewal programmes, his dedication to enhancing the FCT's infrastructure is evident. We have witnessed several flag-offs, not just as ceremonial acts but as milestones in the commitment to making Abuja a world-class city.

6. “The ongoing rehabilitation of major roads, the clearing of illegal structures and the focus on environmental sustainability are all testaments to the Hon. Minister’s vision of an Abuja that is not only beautiful but Abuja that is functional and efficient”, he added.

7. Hon Abbas further expressed confidence that the completion of the access road to the Judges Quarters and other ongoing projects in the FCT will make the city more livable and improve the lives of the residents.

8. In separate messages of goodwill, the Senate Committee Chairman on FCT Area Councils and ancillary matters, Senator David Jimkuta and the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on FCT, Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara commended the FCT Minister for his developmental strides in the FCT while pledging the support of the National Assembly for the FCTA.

9. Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike thanked the National Assembly for its consistent support to the FCT Administration and the speedy approval of the FCT appropriation acts, adding that the FCTA has also made it a point of duty to ensure that the National Assembly is part of every project that is being flagged off or commissioned in the FCT.

10.The Minister said the access road to the Judges quarters as well as other internal roads in the residential quarters, would be completed by May next year to mark the President’s second year anniversary and assured the contractor of adequate funding.

11.He said, “As I speak to you, we have not less than 70 percent of the money in the budget. So, you have to work round the clock to make sure Mr. President commissions the project on his second year anniversary”.

12.Barr. Wike also reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to the provision of infrastructure in both the city centre and the FCT Area Councils, adding that the FCT was not only concentrating on road construction but was also providing other vital infrastructure in the nation’s capital.

13.He said, “This December, we are commissioning six roads that will be a total of about 65 kilometers in the Area Councils. So anybody who is saying that we are concentrating in the city is not saying the truth. The truth is that the attention we give to the city is also the attention we give to the Area Councils”.

I can list more than 50 politicians with houses in Asokoro... Katampe, Area 1,2,3...

Poor man or middle class can not stay in that area. Salary earners can not even dream of packing there.

One room in Asokoro, along the dilapidated side is around 250k... 1 room wit nothing inside.

So let dem develop that area for themselves. Afterall, they don't view the masses as people.

What's so important about her appointment that they can't just buy her her own house in AbJ there. So after her tenure another will be built for one other judge again. How long will her tenure last? Till she retires? So where's she leaving now?

Nobody should go to court in 2027
Nigerians should settle everything at the polling units and inec, any inec wey wan do madness make madness do am
All the talk about go to court ended in 2023
Look at what they are planning, increasing judges salaries to our 5m per month, good vehicles and now building them houses,it is who pays the piper that dictate the tunes
So Nigerians should not let 2027 elections get to court
Let this their plan fail and fail woefully, Nigeria belongs to us
The should be made to realise that,

The children are dumber. How can the young elect the aged to lead them into the future? .... elect people who're at the stage of life where they begin to or are already living in the past? Building judges quarters for judges ... retired judges ... same for future retiree's? ... what will happen to those who retire next year?...and the following years?... aren't they going to get houses too? ... or they would be sidelined? No foresight

Bro, I think you are wrong on this one. Why do you think a desert like Dubai will have the guts to ban Nigerians from visiting? It is because of infrastructure. Don't forget that Dubai in the 90s was just a desert land like Niger Republic. Their daily oil production was just 50K barrels per day while Nigeria was producing 2 million barrels per day, yet the managed their meagre resources and borrowed funds to build Dubai like it is today while our clueless leaders like OBJ used our money to pay back Paris loans. If OBJ had used the money to build infrastructure to the standard of Singapore, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, do you think Nigeria will be where it is today? But all our past leaders have been clueless and wicked and only squandered the resources on intangible things instead of building infrastructures that would have put Nigeria on the map, and make it one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

Imagine if we have the kind of infrastructures they have in Dubai or in the west, do you think Nigerians will be japaring? You will see the whole world coming to Nigeria to invest and all these unemployment will be a thing of the past as the influx of investment will create multiple jobs and don't forget tourism brings so much funds.

It is only someone like Wike and Donald Duke that can change this country's infrastructure. Wike did it in RIvers state and he's doing it in Abuja. If you have anybody living in Abuja ask them, they'll tell you the kind of infrastructure this guy built in just 7 months I have never seen it even in 19 years that I lived in America. Not that fast. So hating him for his attitude makes no sense. We just need someone that will deliver period.

He will build and everything is in stages.
While you are criticizing the FCT Minister, please what exactly is the role of that Hon. Senator or the FCT who happens to be doing nothing?
I'm sure if not for her hatred and dislike of the FCT Minister she is even the one who claimed to be nearer to the common masses that is supposed to point those low grey areas to the Minister to also consider doing something and providing the necessary or little infrastructure to boost the area but she has refused to do the needful.
Certainly she serves her pride and not the common masses who voted her if she continues the way she is.
