omoo! He was probably killed by the taxi driver who conveyed him from the airport. I have heard similar stories like these and it was exactly what happened. In Nigeria, act like you are dangerous or danger will meet you.
He said his brother's bank account is inactive too. Hope not a case of rituals or something.

All those drivers outside as you are coming out are all registered ?
Na watin dey fear me pass be that. Too much disorder at that gate and too many of them. No one can tell me that many drivers there are all registered and monitored .

This is something else I didn't understand. How does he know his brother's account was inactive?

The bank could give him that information

Without his consent?
Banks would have more security than that.

when u arrive at the airport of ur destination 1st action will be to contact ur family or contact person even b4 stepping out to leave the airport premises to update them on ur next move and direction.

Making contact with a stranger be it cab guy or someone u just met on the trip b4 ur family upon arrival is not a wise security move.
he would have sent the drivers details to someone. That's how some the passengers do.

Hahaha woman bring that guy to naija or he snuck out without telling his family to go meet Nigerian tinder girl
RealTrump:
Their story get kleg. Nobody thought to pick him up? ok, maybe d family doesn't live in Lagos n he thought to see his guys.

But what kind of person is coming to Nigeria n you guys don't know the exact date he is coming.

Is plane ticket now like GIG motors that you just wake up one random day and head to the park?

And there was nobody in that UK, not even his school admission office that could verify within a day whether or not he left UK? They now waited till June to confirm if he arrived.

Too many anyhow behaviour in one story. That family itself get k-leg.

Even when surprising ur family there some be a family member or inner circle friend aware of ur movement. its just normal communication for any long trip.
Youare right, but I think in his case, he was in touch with the twin brother before he left the UK.

Surprise is not worth it. Place a call across if you are arriving alone. When you are a couple, you may not need a waiter. Returning from overseas is not a big deal anymore unless you are from a village where no one has ever traveled abroad.
It isn't, but do you know how much parents miss their children after they have away for so long? They like these pleasant surprises. Having said that, it is never wise to arrive the current day Nigeria without a close fam to pick you up at the airport.

The story is even not too clear,he booked a flight there was nothing definitive from the family that he even traveled.Normal thing he will send his flight itinerary even tell them he has boarded and they will be there waiting for him before he lands. But they didn't even know he will show up that day so didn't wait for him.Hope he hasn't dusted his family?

When last did you hear this sort of thing happen? The airport taxis are all registered with FAAN, same as Uber/Bolt if he used the latter option. So I'm not really sure.
Without paper or digital trail that links the person to the Taxi, it is difficult to solve crimes like these if done by even registered airport taxi.

Uber/Bolt are better as long you don’t do offline trip, the trail will be there. That is why it is good to have someone else order Uber/Bolt for you or share your trips status with someone. Uber have a ‘Trust Contact’ feature and that person can track all your trips.

No kleg there. Yes, these days plane ticket is even easier to buy than GIG ticket. Some people travel so easily without prior plan.
A plane ticket you will buy at short notice could cost twice. That's what a politician will do, not a UK student.

True. Very sad indeed. I'm wondering if there's a functional CCTV covering the airport premises and immediate environment.

My twin brother is missing after arriving Lagos Intl. Airport from UK - Man says

He hasn’t reached out to us. His phone number is inactive, and his bank accounts are not active.

Daniel Ogoh, a 27-year-old postgraduate student in the UK, disappeared without a trace after arriving in Lagos on May 5th. His twin brother, David, tells us that Daniel has been unreachable since.

Take a listen!!!

This happened since the supposed arrival of the young man on May 5th, 2024... 5 months ago! His missing status should have hit the mass media 5 months ago with his photographs widely circulated.

The CCTV footages from the International Airport would provide the FIRST hints of what airport cab picked him up and his final destination.

I hope he had NO issues relating to his academics, mental health and more in the United Kingdom that made him to go underground in Nigeria and become incommunicado with his phone lines switched off and bank accounts not touched.

Second, it's ALSO likely that he visited other places without informing his twin brother and the rest of his family. He could have ran into issues in those locations.

Some folks in the Diaspora like pulling surprises on family members in Nigeria or elsewhere by NOT giving full hints about their due arrival dates or announcing their plans to come visiting from the Diaspora and essentially lodge in hotels or Airbnb facilities FIRST before paying those surprise visits with gifts for family and friends. That strategy really has to STOP and just let folks have some hints about your moves.

The CCTV footages from the International Airport and his mobile phone calls tracked by the phone companies are the keys towards tracking this young man down either dead or alive. I hope by some forces, he'll be found after intense investigations from here on out that this information is in the media space.

He supposedly told his family he was arriving, just not the exact date.
That part is hard to understand.
If it was a surprise, they wouldn't know he was coming at all.
That they weren't sure of the exact date is odd.
He's a student. Had to buy his ticket in advance to save money.
So, from the moment he bought his ticket he didn't want his family knowing the exact date but did tell them he was coming at some point?

Sometimes people keep details out that could be helpful.
They should be 100% forthcoming.

I sometimes land and tell people various dates/times depending on who I want to see first or when I want people to know when I'm around.

Check the CCTVs.

Unfortunately the police don't care.

He might even be in one police station like that.
Detained by rogue officers.

Probably he keep his arrival date as a secret from his family so as to hang out with a friend and that ended his life.
Always be in contact with your loved ones; take advantage of social media.

Absolutely well said @Ijebosb.

I watched the video interview the twin brother had here twice with rapt attention. I just couldn't fathom why getting the damn CCTV footages at the International Airport would run into some headwinds. The twin brother said the airport management wasn't forthcoming with the CCTV footages in order to protect the privacy of other passengers who arrived on the flight. It's the duty of crime investigators to analyze the CCTV footages that'll lead to what airport cab the young man took to his final destination, then we'll take it from there by interrogating the driver for new leads.

I had to share this thread link and put a few calls through to my close fam members in multiple Diaspora locations to be aware of this kind of situation and pay more attention to little details when moving cross-borders. With my close family members, I don't keep some vital information away knowing full well that they are dependable and would NOT leak sensitive info to those who shouldn't know. Sharing info with close fam members can even open up more insights and perspectives into issues.

NOT hearing from or knowing where your close relative is can be mentally draining tbh. It's BETTER to know ASAP that they are dead than NOT to know where they are when they suddenly get missing.

Have they tried checking police stations? Those animals in uniform are fond of arresting people and seizing their phones. Your family will not know of your whereabouts until months down the line. Wicked human beings. At least soldiers will beat you up and leave you to go.

Yeah, very odd they they haven't seen the CCTV footage by now. 5 months? They don't even need to have it turned over, just have it viewed with an investigator in their presence. The Nigerian Police should have had that happen relatively quickly. Hopefully this Social Media push puts more pressure on them. Hopefully it hasn't been erased. I have no faith in Nigerian processes.

That's great advice. It's easy to not pay attention to those little details.
Someone should know your itinerary and at the minimum when you land.
I even ask the g/f to send a pic of the license plate or share the Uber of any non company transport she takes when leaving the airport in a foreign country to me or her sister.
I try to do the same but I also have to be more thoughtful about it.
Circumstances can change in a second.

Indeed, that young man's family needs closure right NOW. I know the police will take rapid action from now on. The mass media and social media escalation of this case is what is needed to make the International Airport management to sit right up and have the all CCTVs reviewed, including having all cabs and their drivers recertified for access to the passengers from within the airport facilities.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Cheers.

I wonder why Nigeria is going to do things like others, they are just behaving like 4th world country, in sane clime unregistered state taxis are not allow in international airport, CID in Dubai jumped at us for trying to use unregistered taxi, my luck that day we were tourists, but the Pakistani car lift they took him along .. i arrived Nigeria from Abroad last year after years of absence, the first thing that greet me are hungry looking immigration officers that only care of tips.... Even if I carry something bad they don't even care... Anyway I gave them few Naira with me as they even help me carry my luggages outside.. fast forward, when I came outside I was expecting to state taxi, but to my suprise what was there are all unregistered taxis, the scene at the airport looks like 1945 Yugoslavia, you will think you are in war torn solamia.... These taxi guys mostly of yoruba origin the awful odour of left over monkey tail, will tell u , u are in big shit..... They round me as if flies wey see hot shit .... I picked one and told him to take me to nearby hotel I can stay the one that is not far from airport because I have to fly home by 7am, this guy passed all the hotel around and took me to one hotel in festac, this hotel immediately i entered there i sense danger, even the streets no light , the hotel no light they were using rechargeable lights .... I asked this guy why did U bring me here he said nah the best hotel he knows .. anyway I paid them and they took me to my room, first thing i checked is the burglar proof, the door looks like something that they can open from outside...I felt uncomfortable i started telling my family my situation in case they didnt hear from me...... My heart wasn't settled I have to checked out without staying there for 1hr then my auntie sent one of his family friend who was a major in army to come and pick me to nearest hotel that is relatively safe ... The person that called this country zoo didn't make a mistake, who knows what would've happened to me of I didn't leave... They will steal from me and might still sell me to Ogun body parts traders
