I fear that the next generation may be worse off than ours, given the irresponsibility displayed by some Gen Z parents. Today, in class, one of my students reported that a classmate was drinking alcohol. Specifically, he was sipping from an 'Eagle' sachet of alcoholic drink. I was shocked and asked where he got it from. He replied that his mother gave it to him to prevent him from catching a cold. I was outraged and asked why she didn't give him tea, chocolate, or another hot beverage instead. He said their gas had run out. Is that a justified reason to give a 12-year-old boy alcohol? We've summoned the mother.

It's just humans living and experiencing life. It has always been like that with older people complaining about younger generations doing exactly what they once did

Some typical African homes gives their children a taste of local gin (ogogoro) even from birth, i have witness it many times from different families.

If you observe the families from riverine areas , southern cities etc. Outside Nigeria , we have some locals from Togo, Cotonou, etc.

Nevertheless, that is not a justification to hand a sachet of alcohol beverage to a secondary school pupil . Even many Universities if not all does not allow open consumption of alcohol. May God help our children.

The oldest Gen Z is 27 years old and we have been complaining about them for like 4 years, which will make them 23. I think Millennials are part of who we blame since Gen Z don't like marriage and are too young without money to have a family

That 12 year old boy, from your story, if given birth to by a teenager is likely born to a Millenial than a Gen Z.
