Zaheertyler:The Igbo man has being successful in insulting anyone that does not support Igbo agenda, the Igbos are the real pioneers of dividing Nigeria currently. They are the least patriotic, followed by the Yoruba man, the ijaws and Fulani comes third. Let's stop making it look like Igbos are not part of the problem |

But he Obasanjo created geopolitical zones all around the nation. Northwest, NorthEast, NorthCentral, SouthSouth, SouthWest and SouthEast. And Tinubu continue from there now to Development Commission. |

stuffs2002:These people have played us the Nigerian Masses to the extent that you can't differentiate their good/evil intentions. Some of Pa OBJ statements these days, you would have thought he has never been president of this great nation before. What was his opinions then vs now? What changed? Because he's no longer in power, so he became so opinionated. Was it not him that was trying to go for 3rd term? I Am a proud Owu man and I respect him so much but I still think some of these statements are about 2027 politics. |

The Unity of Nigeria and Regionalism are not in conflict. OBJ views are based on a military command and control mindset. Nigeria is made of people groups that were compelled to join the British protectorate at different times. The Post Soviet world has shown this to be a mistake. We must let go of our fears and embrace what is good for our union as people states. |

chiagozien:You said the truth. That's one of the reasons we said that Nigeria will not make any meaningful progress. There are widespread extreme differences in values, leadership, religion, morals, etc. No country progresses with these. |
| Re: Regionalism Is Root Of Nigeria’s Problems, Says Obasanjo by onuman: 10:58am On Oct 23, 2024 |
But Obasanjo would want a country where one region which used its military dictators to restructure Nigeria politically from 1967-1996, skewed the political structure to favour its region politically and economically, and uses government institutions to drive for Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal laws. Obasanjo called it political sharia when he was president. But thar sharia has eventually crippled the economy of Nigeria |

Zaheertyler:The funny thing is that the hatred they have for the Igboman is the albatross of the country. They are fixated ensuring that the Igboman is caged or constrained. They ensure that those politicians supported by the Igboman do not win. By doing this, they think that they are punishing the Igboman. What they do not know is that he knows that good, just, fair, progressive, morally upright and innovative leadership and society is what the Igboman craves. So this their hatred makes them work against these kind of leaders. As long as elections are held in Nigeria, the Igboman will continue to support selfless, just, fair, good, morally upright, etc men. You see one of the reasons why the country will continue to run round in circles? |

Can these old men be truthful to us for once. Truth be told that; Nigeria recorded greatest developments during regional Govts. The West was striving to build cocoa house in Ibadan while the east was striving to build independence house at Enugu. At Kaduna ,the north tried to build Arewa house. . A lot of development came up then as a result of healthy and competitive rivalry . Regional Govt is the best way to go . |

chiagozien:100% correct. I can only believe OBJ's elderly age predisposes him to being set in his ways hence his redundant insistence on the unity of Nigeria to the extent he now attacks even regionalism that is the best way forward for Nigeria now bar outright break-up. OBJ is not unexposed to be ignorant on what obtains in the world's best nation. I.e the fact they have homogenous ideas about what are societally desirable and common values everyone must subscribe to. Does OBJ see anywhere progressive in the world where terrorist and bandits who are confirmed killers 'rehabilitated' and even drafted into the armed forces? Abdulmutallab was jailed for life in the USA. Had he been arrested in Nigeria it would be a slap on the wrist and perhaps he'd be in the Senate today. We are too different to head in the same homogeneous direction let alone assume we all ever thrive under "one Nigeria". Leaders should understand that accepting our very serious and fundamental differences, to then work advantageously with them, is the way forward. Rather than denying them as OBJ and co always seek to do. Even America that has far more homogeneity than Nigeria has State policing with every American State allowed it's own constitution to recognise how indigenes of those State wish to live peculiar to their circumstances. We cannot even have those basic concessions while insecurity, for example, keep getting worse. Yet we know that regional policing can end it in months yet we will not adopt it because some want us to endure with the corrupt, archaic and worthless NPF that has fed generations of their family since 1960. Leaders simply refuse to do the right thing because of greed and what they are benefitting from Nigeria and not because they believe we are best under "one Nigeria". |
| Re: Regionalism Is Root Of Nigeria’s Problems, Says Obasanjo by UltraSolid: 11:40am On Oct 23, 2024 |
Charly68:Precisely. The old boys are always forcing a reality that exists in their own head only whereas the truth is that regional governance is the only system that can save Nigeria. Look at a region that believes pardoning and rehabilitating terrorists is progressive policy whereas a man from the SW, as obtains universally, believes terrorist killers must be dealt with ruthlessly to serve as deterrent to others. Why should they be forced to live under "one Nigeria" when it is obvious they will have different approaches to policing, insecurity and thee punishment of crime? Why can't they simply have regional policing to allow regions create policing and security forces that suits their outlook? Ditto for so many other things. We are too different and will remain different in so far as we wish to live differently and have starkly contrasting values. I suspect the like of OBJ have been too wealthy for far too long and totally disengaged from reality. |
