Ex-BBNaija housemate, Leo DaSilva shares his perspective on the common phrase, “Be a man,” which he believes is often used to silence men and overlook their well-being.

In a post on social media, he explained that the phrase is a trigger for toxic behaviour, as it pressures men to suppress their emotions and ignore their mental health to conform to societal expectations.

Leo Dasilva further stressed the importance of men prioritizing their mental health and overall well-being, a message that resonated with many of his followers.

“It’s okay for you as a man to also prioritize your mental health and general well-being. If you are not fine, you cannot effectively take care of anyone,” he added.

Like !!!....sometimes you just wonder if people are getting more enlighten or the reverse.

My cousin learned this when he realized the advice held no meaning whatsoever. His father told him “be a man” when it came to picking a wife. His workmate told him “be a man” when he asked for advice on how to start a task. His mother told him “be a man” when he decided to drive across four states. His friends are telling him “be a man” now that he’s thinking of remaining in Nigeria.
