Space is possibly the only thing that will make me think of "more efficient" panels. But, I don't think that the markup on the so-called "top tier" is worth the presumed increase in yield. I will like to see a more scientific comparison of the panels beyond the instantaneous yields of above 100%. I will want to see more long-term performance comparison.

One major problem with measuring efficiency in our setup is that what we get is mostly dependent on our needs, not the efficiency of our panels. On many good days, my batteries are full by mid-day or slightly after. So, my yields can never be a good measure of the performance of my panels.

The argument between top tier solar panels and the lower tier ones is not settled. Some people are of the opinion that what you get per naira is what is most important. If a 300W low tier panel gives me only 70% yield, but costs me only 50% of what I will pay for a top tier 300W panel, isn't the maths already leveling up?

Based on personal experience, I'll say yes, inverter ACs are worth the extra bucks.

I have 3 inverter ACs (2x TCL 1HP and 1x Haier Thermocool 1HP) which are always on the lowest inverter model and consumes max 1.2kw/h.

When not on inverter mode the figure is over 2.4kw/h.

What I have heard is that the inverter ACs are not as good in terms of cooling.

Cooling is not an issue for mine though. Make is LG. That AC practically turns the room into a dry ice cold room.

Not too bad according to the price. Not tier 1 though. Good for someone starting off the renewable journey that is buying materials that won't break the bank. I've seen loads of Sun Field products in the Nigerian market. But Sun Field is not a known company outside of Nigeria, I suspect an importer just slapped that name on products they customised/bought in China for sell in Nigeria.

That said, I can't say anything about the reliability as this name brand is only seen in Nigeria. Haven't used any of their products though.

Its true your setup can go with 6mm.
But a good installer will advice you to use a bigger size cable just to dissipate heat better and give you chance to increase panels tomorrow if the case arises. Even if you can afford 16mm, use it. If tomorrow God bless you with money and you want to change system to carry 10-12 panels, you won't talk of buying cable again coz the 16mm will do it. 6mm or 10mm won't do it.

When you used the word something "fishy". That was an attack on my person. I have no business defending growatt or jinko. You can say its impossible for panels to produce 100% of their watts, and you can say charge controllers show higher readings, that will be your opinion. Saying my marketing is fishy, is accusing me already. I have a dealership with Fouani, i can sell panels/inverter/acs/tvs for lower than the price you see on the fouani website. But you dont see me posting ads here everyday.i hardly post. Few days b4 i made that post, i noticed the sun was super bright, the brightest i have seen since i installed my growatt 5000spf. I'm like let me check, i noticed the harvest was super high, i snapped and posted with a little ad stating i was in benin, because i no get strength for ship here and there. All of a sudden someone says I'm being fishy. Anyways no vess, your comment annoyed me.

Thought as much. The OP on freezer should get an inverter freezer.

Mine has been great with its cooling and I can not complain.

Moreover I'm not trying to freeze the people in the house

I think it is better you get another quote from a different installer. I don't know what he is calculating under item 1, if the distance from panel to DB is 20m. Why is he quoting for 10mm x 10yards? You need to find out from him if he is buying 10 yards of 10mm cable because 10 yards is not the same as 20m?

CNG wont be cheaper in the future maintain your petrol car. It is cheaper now because there are less cars using CNG. Time will tell.

Nothing supports this theory. My inverter ACs perform as well as any AC can. In fact, my Hisense inverter outperforms my older Samsung non-inverter.

I have very little context so pardon me. I am responding to this purely on the face of the comment. I have been a solar user now for over 8 years. My first system was a 1.2kw (inverter) paired with a 480w solar and 2 Tubular batteries. That system paired with the grid was able to power basic house loads including a 130L chest freezer. The freezer ran for 4 hours a day.

I later upgraded the inverter to 2.4kw (Axpert inverter) and pared it with 1.8kw solar (and same Tubular battery as before) and ran the house completely off-grid from this setup for over 2 years (no NEPA setup)

In all I ran a 24v system from 2016 - 2022 and had most of my basic loads like fridge, freezer, occasional microwave, occasional ironing etc.

Of cause I did not run all the powerful loads all at ones but my point is, design design design. System design is 80% of the work on solar.

Key is performing a proper energy audit. Designing your system around the result of your energy audit. I used 2 tubular batteries, 2.4kw inverter and 1.8kw solar panels to power a 2 bedroom apartment completely off-grid and I lived quite comfortably (as comfortable as you can live without AC LOL)

Even now with a much upgraded system, you can check my daily usage averages at about 1.5kw (when I have 1 AC a freezer, fridge, fan, lots of computers - running in my home lab including a 64 Terabyte NAS with 64g ram and 8 core AMD Ryzen) all of this is running on less than 2kw and when AC is off house load drops to less than 1kw. People don't use as much power as they think. It is fine and very possible to use a lean prudent, low power system you just have to have the whole system well designed from load to generation to storage.

The answer to this will depend on how many hours you need the freezer to be running AT NIGHT. Energy storage (batteries) is what accounts for most of the budget in a setup, I'd say.

If you can make do with the freezers running from 8-5 during the day, and then for maybe four hours in the middle of the night, you'll be able to get a setup that isn't really that expensive. Maybe around 800k.
