Naira Depreciates To N1,740/$ In Parallel Market by MrCover(op): 6:40am On Oct 26, 2024
The Naira today depreciated to N1,740 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,739 per dollar on Thursday.

However, the Naira appreciated to N1,601.2 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM.

Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM fell  to N1,600 per dollar from N1,601.2 per dollar on Thursday , indicating N1.2 appreciation for the naira.

The volume of dollars traded (turnover) in the official market increased by 23  percent to $284.93 million from $230.99 million traded on Thursday.

Consequently, the margin between the parallel market and NAFEM rate widened to N140 per dollar from N137.8  per dollar on Thursday.

Nawa!
This Naira is behaving like our national grid. It keeps collapsing up and down. It's well.

So the much awaited Dangote Refinery is no longer a saviour for our Naira as earlier projected?

At the rate the Naira keeps depreciating, soon a cowrie would have more value than the Naira.

Imagine toothpaste costing N2,000. Very pathetic!

The most painful increment is that of egg. In 2020, I used to buy 3 eggs for N100. Today, as in this morning, I bought four small-size eggs for N1,000.

A giant has finally turned to a dwarf!

Tinubu, Cardoso, Wale Edun and the economic think-tank team are all useless. The persistent free fall depreciative effect of the naira is one of the useless economic decision of this clueless and impactless government which is severely affecting the lives of many Nigerians today
