Published on October 27, 2024By Casmir Nwankwo A newly formed militant group, the Niger Delta Development Force, has threabed to bomb oil installations over an alleged plot to use a Federal High Court in Abuja to deny Rivers State’s local government allocation. The group’s threat comes ahead of a decision expected from Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on Monday, which is anticipated to have significant implications for local governance in the oil-rich state. The group claims that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister, is leveraging his influence and relationships with members of the judiciary to secure rulings that undermine the governance of Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State. The spokesperson of the group, Justin Alabraba, in a statement on Sunday, stated that any judgment that denies local governments in Rivers State its statutory monthly allocation will be met with heavy destruction of oil installations. Alabraba emphasised the group’s readiness to act, declaring, “Let them try it on Monday and see. We will shut down major oil pipelines, and it would be the beginning of the worst to come. Wike cannot be using Tinubu’s powers to cause problems in Rivers State.” The threat raises concerns about potential violence and disruption in a region already fraught with socio-political challenges and a history of militancy tied to the oil industry. As the ruling date approaches, local authorities and stakeholders are bracing for possible fallout from the court’s decision.

RIVERS ASSEMBLY TUSSLE: GOV. FUBARA PERFECTS PLANS TO STAGE PROTEST There is a growing concern within the camp of Governor Siminalayi Fubara that the series of losses recorded in the ongoing litigation are clear signs that the government is gradually coming to an end. Rivers Watch reliably gathered that the governor's camp are preparing to stage multiple protests to cry wolf. They have been warned by their lawyers that they have bad cases at different levels of the court, and they cannot win the final battle. We have it on good authority that the first thing they plan to do to water the ground for the protest is to launch a massive campaign of calumny against the judiciary. This we learned is aimed at justifying the planned protest. Governor Fubara and some key members of his kitchen cabinet allegedly met with some media executives and publishers at the government house, Port Harcourt recently to perfect the plan to paint it like the judiciary is against the governor and his administration. Over $500,000 has been earmarked for that purpose. Some selected media houses and public affairs analysts have been commissioned to carry out the attack on the judiciary. We were also informed that there will be a lot of newspaper publications from pseudo groups condemning the judiciary as part of the multidimensional campaign. Every judge handling any case involving the political crisis in Rivers State has been penciled down as a target. Even the Chief Justice of Nigeria and justices of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal will not be spared in the smear campaign. In the coming weeks, all these will unfold to herald their protest all in a bid to whip up sentiments to gain public sympathy, we gathered. Recall that on October 30, 2023, Rivers State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule removed Edison Ehie as Leader of the House, suspended him and three others following the burning of the hallowed chamber of the assembly. Moments later, Edison Ehie declared himself the Speaker. Governor Fubara went on to present the 2024 appropriation bill to him and three other suspended lawmakers. An action that Justice Omotoso of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja nullified in its entirety, and declared that Mr. Ehie was never elected speaker of the house, in his ruling in January 2024. Instead of obeying the ruling, Governor Fubara chose to appoint Oko Jumbo as speaker with two others as members of the assembly. On two separate occasions, the Court of Appeal has ruled that Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule is the authentic Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. One was the squashing of the ex parte order granted by Justice Wali of the Rivers State High Court that Oko Jumbo relied on, for lacking jurisdiction, the other was the affirming of the judgment of Justice Omotoso of the Federal High Court. |

They should rather tell Fubara to obey the Laws of the land and lawful judgements of the Courts. This strategy of blackmail and intimidation will only backfire on Fubara who is the sponsor. |

But the same Fubara withheld local government funds for 3 months, where were you people? He should stop setting the state up for crisis. He is not bigger than the constitution or other states that presented budget to a valid state assembly. Series of court orders and even the presidential solution said represent the budget to a legally constituted house. They should impeach him make everybody rest. |

This situation is getting out of hand like we predicted and getting to a point that even Tinubu WOULD BE UNABLE TO contain... The country is on autopilot with the economy on free fall , then you add fresh agitations in the niger delta over one cantankerous, recalcitrant minister of the Federal Republic your dunce of a president has refused to rein in... what do you think will eventually happen? Dey play Make judiciary give any mumu judgement first.. we dey wait them. 😂 Fubara goes NOWHERE.... the New LG chairmen are recognised... the 27 lawmakers are gone!!! Allocations will keep dropping... |

Eteka1:And what do you think will happen? 😂.. you will send in your ragtag, corrupt army that can't prevent oil theft? The same army getting beheaded like chickens in the Niger Delta? 😂... nigga, are you for real? Can your rag tag army fight a war on more than 2 fronts? 😂 You are currently producing 1.3 million barrels... if you are happy to bring that down to less than 1 million over one greedy, deluded megalomaniac of a minister, be my guest! At this rate, there will be no Nigeria to preside over in 2027. Go ahead... have a field day.. 😂 I don't know wether Wike use all of una head Cook abaca and nkwobi for that im ogboni shrine that none of you can question him. You worship the drunkard as if he's God. It's not even as if he treated you all with respect. He and his few cronies share the chicken and throw crumbs for foot soldiers like you. That's why your mothers and fathers die on the regular because the money for hospitals, drugs, good roads and security are in one man's belly. Enough is Enough! Allow Fubara work for Rivers people. The man has approved 85,000 minimum wage in a heart beat. If it was wike, the crook would still be paying 30,000 , refuse to pay pension and gratuities and still refuse to promote anybody. Make una fear God! |

Eteka1:No wahala .... tell your judges to give any idiotic judgement make we see. In this age and time, one corrupt minister who believes he has the ear of the president and who the president believes is instrumental to his 2027 success will wake up and cease the allocations to a state because he's disgruntled and unhappy. Because he believes Rivers belongs to him. Because he believes he has been treated with disrespect and disdain by the governor. ... and we go dey look am with open mouth like fish wey dey roast ontop grill ba? So because of that he ceases, without conscience, through a group of criminal judges, the allocations for the 23 local govts of a state.. that mothers, fathers, children depend on for survival in this impossible godforsaken economy and nitwits like you come here to applaud and cheer him on. Eteka, Are you for real? Think about it. Who uses ceasing the salaries of millions of people in a war to bring one governor to his knees. Who does that? Where is our sense of justice, fairness and mercy? For a man to go that far betrays his dark, wicked heart and we won't have it. |

Eteka1:Ignorant folks like you will never understand that CAUTION is not weakness. Na so we for enter war with Niger. When it will start now, you'll start wailing. For a government that has pushed people to the wall, Niger Delta is not a place you ignite fire because of the ego of one man. We go dey here observe. PS . I am almost certain there'll be no election by 2027. As the Judiciary shows it's unclothedness by the day; people lose the taste of civility. Mark it down. History won't forget those that led Nigeria to the brink, and those that urged them on. |
