Abi I lie. You come dey talk am like say you dey beat Barca throughout the last 3 yrs.

Our 3-2 last game before yesterday wey na rob us clearly for that match. The goal wey referee and VAR lie comot nko? That one na before na even score na 3rd goal. If to say goal line tech dey La Liga you think say you go win that match with all the ojoro and VAR bias. Ball clearly pass line na only na refs refuse to see am.

Lol, I'm even surprised some people finding it surprising. White man no true true dey baff before na. grin grin

Especially those environmentalist purists, saving water for humanity. Na every 3 days them day baff. Some dey say dey go one week without bathing if them dey house and ain't going nowhere.
White man no dey scrub body before sef.

There's one Twitter thread I enter earlier this year or so. And white people wanted to honestly know if the talk amongst blacks about their bodies smelling was true.
Dem shock when many black people dey confess say their white friends smells like pennies under the rain. Or smell like puppies when their skin gets wet or in swimming pools.
Although it was connected to their blood sugar levels. grin grin
The stereotype came from not bathing because of the freezing temperatures during winter. And also the historical fact that Arabs in the earlier centuries were cleaner due to religion/culture/wudhu compared to the westerners. The Arabs mocked thr westerners as filthy....

"Hijack'93" (2024)

Everyone involved in this mess should be arrested: the cast, the director, the producer, the extras, even the Netflix execs who okayed it… I mean everybody!

Forgive the long review, but it comes from a place of intense anger. 😩

When the trailer first came out, we thought the only issue might be the wrong use of props. But after watching the actual movie, it’s clear that was just a small part of the problem.

Without mincing words, this might be the worst Nollywood flick I’ve seen in a long while. This hogwash has set the industry back by at least 10 years… it’s absolutely irredeemable.

The plot was a madhouse: zero coherence, zero structure, zero character development. It felt like they were just throwing random scenes in, hoping something would stick and none of it did. Clearly, no one in the writers’ room was thinking straight. There’s even a scene where the supposed Nigerian special forces try to rescue a Chinese diplomat's son from the hijacked plane by sending him poisoned food so he’ll get sick. When he’s taken off the plane, they plan to give him an antidote. Yes, they actually acted out this insane idea 😭😭

The use of modern props stripped the movie of any 1993 ambience, it was the most modern-looking “period” flick ever. Without the title, you’d think this adapted event happened last year.

The background story wasn’t engaging enough to justify an adaptation imo. Given that Nigeria barely keeps records, they were working with a topic that had very few documented firsthand details; of course they’d run into plot holes.

The plot follows four supposedly oppressed youths who want to “save” Nigeria from a corrupt government. So, they’re somehow convinced to hijack a plane and divert it to Frankfurt so they can start new lives. How does that fight against a bad government? To make things worse, the movie paints these characters as heroes.

There were so many random, unexplained events, and it seemed like they just expected viewers to connect dots that didn’t even exist. They had the audacity to throw in a Yoruba vs. Igbo tribal war trope for no apparent reason, and it was a cringe fest. That popular fair-skinned guy from Twitter played one of the hijackers, and he would randomly burst into the cabin with a gallon of fuel, threatening to douse everyone, yet there’s zero explanation of how the fuel got onto the plane. The whole thing was so chaotic.

Like 30 mins to the end, it didn't even care what happened, didn't care for the hijackers, i didn't care for the hostages, that's how little they sold the characters and story to me. I just kept it as BG noise and started streaming El Çlassico on another device, imagine missing Barça Youngins, pasting Madrid, 4 kolo in their own backyard? E for too pain me 😭, as that was an all timer El Çlassico, it hasn't been that good since Messi and CR7 used to go band for band.

Normally, everyone involved in this hogwash supposed to dey sleep cell by now😩. Save your sanity and avoid this flick at all costs. It’s a terrible example of where the industry should not be headed.

2/10.
Giving it a 2 should be considered false advertising a 0.2/10 for sheer effort is a better score

Just from the trailer alone - you'd already know it would be the dumbest Netflix movie of the week. The trailer should be a highlight of all the highs in the show so you should adjust know what you're getting😆

From your explanation it's like the writers and directors have never entered a plane or know how a heist or hijack happens. Normally, writers research for months just to get a good script but it's like they just dreamed up the story

It depends on the location tho. In the southern part of the US like Arizona, NM or Texas. It's mostly hot so people bathe like 3 times a day if they can. But places in the North they only bathe once in 2 days. The UK is worse

Not even entering plane per say, as they surprisingly nailed the plane scene 100% but the screenplay didn't just work. Like i said, the subject matter doesn't have enough documented evidence to draw research from, but i believe they could have improvised and made the screenplay better, when doing period pieces, if you don't have all the info, you can improvise to make the script better, even if you have all the info sef....so the failure of the movie is just done to a very bad script.

The 2/10 was for the very few things that worked...but i mean, that is still a very bad score, and it's a zero nudge for anyone to actually see it.

If they nailed the plane scene. How the hell did they sneak in a gallon of gas into a plane. Do you know the amount of routine checks airplanes go through in every country not to talk of guns? Did they have an insider helping them? If they did, how did this insider get through PSA to even sneak in even a pen to a loaded airplane.
Also how did the screenwriters believe it's a smart move to write characters that think an airplane would not be gunned down in another country's airspace if they think it's at risk to affect their own civilians?
They may only have nailed the aesthetics of a plane but not its functionality

That's the context i meant, when i said they got the "Plane scene" 100%. The ambience and simulation of an actual flight was spot on.

The other things you mentioned are down to a bad script and bad delivery....do not stress yourself, it was a bad movie.

"Caddo Lake" 2024.

Time warp thriller mystery for amateurs maybe.

It started slow and they tried to overly fragment the plot to make it seem clever than it actually is with all the time jumps going on but if you are vigilant enough, you'd see all the clues within the first 30 mins, and you wouldn't even need to see the end, for them to give you any "big reveal" they had in store.

It also seem like they tried to fit so many plot lines into this, and a mini series could have done more justice to the script.

And is it just me or does this look like a not so clever copycat of the Netflix's German show "Dark"? 🤔

Anyway...decent enough watch if your expectations are on the ground.

6/10.

Which rest? Films that ain't coming out anytime soon. The earliest movie there is 2026. And half the projects are still in devt phase.

Him mates like Austin Butler, Paul Mescal, Timothee Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, how many movies and top directors them don work with the last two years and upcoming projects??

So until then, the jury is still out on him. He doesn't even have the range or can lace the shoes of any of those actors mentioned up there.
Even him own wife don get one movie this year already and multiple projects lined up since when both of them featured last in his Spidey movie.
So like I said, he's still saved by MCU.

Outside of the MCU he's has been in some other films that have been well received by the critics, including: The Impossible, Locke, The Lost City of Z, Pilgrimage, Spies in Disguise, and Onward. It was even in the movie "The Impossible" that they recognised he had talent, that was his breakout role before he auditioned with 7000 other actors for Spiderman. If noting dey to talk them go just dey rant rubbish dey full thread dey go.
