Niorte:The government misbehaves because they have seen that Nigeria has huge number of people thinking in that manner. So to them, the fools overwhelm the wise |

@ Op You lost the bet because you gambled on something you don't have enough information on and not because the governor has displayed lack of integrity . Since Lagos State pays their civil servants every 23, it won't be possible for the 85k to reflect in the month of October because everything concerning this month salary has already been finalized as at the time the governor made the announcement . Salaries in the public sector especially for states with a large working force such as Lagos state, is usually ready at least two weeks before payday and not in days Your civil servant friend ishould have informed you of this fact if truly he is working with the Lagos state government or he explained but didn't understand what he said |

Niorte:You seem to be the one constituting a problem for Nigeria. If you had an idea of how these things work, you would have been better informed. Most government payrolls are begin processing by the 10th day of the month in order to meet salary payment deadlines for that month. Sanwolu made the announcement of increment around 16th or 17th October. The payroll for October would have already being processed to an advanced stage since salaries started dropping from 22nd of October. So except he wanted to delay salaries, it was sensible to pay the old salary while the adjustment can commence in November then October arrears paid. |

Wolexyoshi:Immediately he declared, did you remember the impact of his declaration on the fuel price? Political leaders must realize that their words carry influence and as such must be careful in their choice of words. Don't use a present tense when a future tense is needed. Lagos pays N85,000 as minimum wage is different from Lagos will pay N85,000 as minimum wage. |

ivandragon:Wisdom will not kill you. You think you know so much but you might be disappointed. What excuse would you give if at the end of November, the payment hasn't changed. You would look for another excuse.... You probably don't understand the meaning of INTEGRITY. Let your YES be YES, and your NO be NO. No excuse is tenable or acceptable for not keeping your words. There was a man in the Bible, his name was Jephtha, he promised God that if God gave him victory in the battle he was going for. The first person to come and welcome him back home would be used as sacrifice to God. Unfortunately, his daughter was the first to come out and welcome him when he came back from the war .... It was difficult for him, yet he went ahead to sacrifice her daughter....he didn't give excuse! A man of integrity keeps to their words, even when it is difficult. No excuse is justifiable enough. That's integrity. Talk & Do! |

triplechoice:What you didn't realize is that, the Governor didn't just come out to make an impromptu statement. He must have consulted and agree with the state civil service. So it was not when he said it that implementation began. His announcement should be a ceremonial after implementation. You don't announce plan, you announce execution and implementation as a Governor. |

Niorte:Lol. Lagos has been paying minimum wage of 70k since January or February... so he announcing an increase to 85k is just a recognition of the realities, though it is still grossly inadequate. And I do not recall him saying exactly when he would start paying the 85k. But like I pointed out earlier, if you knew how structured organisations worked, you would know increases don't just get implemented immediately. There are processes. Comparing a government to an individual in the Bible who was for all intents and purposes, an absolute mornarch, tells a lot about your exposure and understanding of administration. |

I am replying your msg with all sense of seriousness n I have to tell that you are an exceedingly foolish soul. Reason 1 - There as been several salary increment in Nigeria was any ever implemented with the month the governor declared such ? 2. Sanwolu had previously increased salary during Buhari tenure was that promised implemented with 3 good months after he made the declaration ? Going by the above 2 issues I stated I reiterate that you have to be an exceedingly and extremely foolish n senseless human being to bet on that. The antecedent of all n every former governors Nigeria governor from not just 1999 but since 1960 never implement salary increase same month such announcement was made why on Earth do you think the crop of failures now with Sanwolu that recently fail such declaration is worth betting on not to repeat such ?! Niorte:No. That's not how it works Minimum wage is law which everyone is already aware of. Moreover, the governor is not operating his personal business. He's responsible to the people of Lagos state who elected him and not just the civil servants . And so, whatever plans he has to execute especially when it comes to the issue of salary, which is definitely going to impact on the state finances, must be announced first to the hearing of everyone in the state , circular issued to those in charge of salaries before it's implemented . This is the process and not what you think should be done. This isn't the first time minimum wage has been increased in this country . The process of implementation has not changed. |

ObiPandora:It takes only a matured and educated person to argue for or against on a public forum without resulting into abuse or insult. Because I am above and beyond you, I won't result to insulting you. Just know that you can make your point of view known without insults. People would like you for it. But because you're not trained to use superior arguments to win a discourse, you resulted to insults. Back to the real issue. The governor has shown lack of integrity in that he stated by implication that Lagos has started paying N85,000 which was found not to be true. We don't care what the process is all about. When you use present tense when you ought to use future tense, then that's a lie. I have a car is not the same as I am in the process of buying a car. We pay N85,000 minimum wage is not the same as We are going to pay N85,000 minimum wage. I understand that you are paid to defend and speak good of the Governor online but on this matter, you have no valid point. And since you've debased yourself my resulting into insult. I won't give you a response again on this matter. Stay responsible |
