Power sector is becoming more lucrative because of rise in tariff. I know most Nigerians don’t like the hike in tariff and I feel their pain but you need private sectors to come in and invest.

All what Adelabu should do now if he is smart is ensure the metering gap is gone. It’s not a difficult task to achieve. It would incentivise Discos to supply more power if they want more money because estimated billing would be gone.

Also, Adelabu, improve the national grid and make it more robust. Regional grids should start in earnest.

No more excuses!! Excuses are for the weak minded.

Good thing that despite the balablu noise of A-looter ProgreThief Conmen, APC about the deregulation and privatisation capitalist reforms of PDP, they did not reverse the policies that have started yielding expected results after the gestation period aka lead time.

nnamdibig:
If you don’t have electricity, it is not the Federal Government’s problem, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has declared.

Fashola, who disclosed this while speaking at the Nextier Power Dialogue on Wednesday night in Abuja, told his listeners that there were problems in the power sector, but reminded them that it was not the Federal Government’s problem if citizens in the country do not have electricity, especially since the sector was privatised.

He said, “There are problems without a doubt and we must deal with them. But let me remind you, all of the assets that the Ministry of Power used to control for power have been sold by the last administration before I came. And so if you don’t have power, it is not the government’s problem. Let us be honest.

“The people who are operating the power sector, generation and distribution are now privately owned companies. I am here because I am concerned. If your telephone is not working, it is not the minister of communication that you go to. Let us be very clear.”

https://punchng.com/its-not-fgs-problem-if-nigerians-lack-electricity-fashola/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
The wonder is whether Fashola was ignorant of this fact when he was making mouth with propaganda below as part of Tinubu's package of his 2011 CPC expired old soldier into APC messiah four years later.
How can a smart orator turn out to be a clueless administrator huh

Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

The weak minded like Fayemi and his APC clowns who used Tunde Bakare, Femi Falana, Femi Kuti etc to play politics with our welfare in 2012 huh

Can you imagine how far we would have gone in fuel sector 12 years later, as we have done with telecoms that was deregulated over two decades ago by the capitalist PDP administrationhuh

Omooba77:
A former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, said the protest that trailed the fuel subsidy removal during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012 was due to political interests.

Fayemi said this in his keynote address delivered at a national dialogue organised to celebrate the 60th birthday celebration of the founding National Secretary of Alliance for Democracy and Fellow, Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Professor Udenta Udenta in Abuja.

The programme was attended by Jonathan, former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili; former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, among others.

The PUNCH reports that on January 1, 2012, President Goodluck announced the removal of fuel subsidy and adjusted the pump price of petrol from N65 per litre to N141.

The decision sparked mass protests, tagged ‘Occupy Nigeria’ across major cities of the country.

The price was later re-adjusted to N97, after more than a week of protests.

Petrol price was later reduced to N87 in 2015.

Jonathan faced serious backlash for the fuel price adjustment, especially from leaders of the All Progressives Congress, who were then in different opposition parties, including the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Congress for Progressives Congress, All Nigeria Peoples Party, and All Progressive Grand Alliance.

If you remove subsidy and prices go up, private hands will know that they can make profits and their investments won't go to waste.
Indeed, that's the main thrust. Government subsidies in any developing country have to gradually go in order to free up funds for other key developmental purposes. Private sector-led initiatives are the new normal.

whatever is subsidized, don't they pay what's left of the actual value to the producer? If your products cost 2 naira and you sell at 1.5, government gives you 0.5 . where's the loss to the producer?
