It is because IGR is a measure of the ability to spend on infrastructure and social programmes. It is also a measure of the quality of the residents. Low IGR = Poor quality residents, Poor quality residents = low disposable income. Low disposable income = unattractive investment destination for investment (low income residents cannot afford good hotels, schools, entertainment, quality housing etc) You don’t invest (or locate) a Sheraton or shoprite in a place where the people cannot afford the prices or locate a factory in a place where the staff will not get good schools and hospitals for their staff or the govt cannot afford to pay for security. It’s no coincidence that the places with the highest incidences of kidnapping and insecurity have low IGR and the places with the highest IGR are the safest

Therefore low IGR = Unattractive destination for investment = low quality residents= low tax base= low level of development.

1. The domestic debt profile of the South West is almost 4 Times that of the South East.

2. The external debt profile of the South West is almost 8 Times that of the South East.

3. The total debt profile of the South West is 12 times worse than that of the South East.

4. The total debt stock of the South West is almost 7 quadrillion. And the lots of you dragging the South East are doing so because your region generates an IGR total of 1 trillion, a mere 0.02% of the total debt stock of the region.

You better start asking the right questions of your leaders.

The Osun IGR being the lowest is as a result of Federal Government conspiracy by shielding various Mining coys in the state from paying taxes. When the sites were sealed, the Ministry of Solid Minerals quickly ran down to shield them. How can they cripple the state because of political differences and expect miracle from the sitting governor?

Funny thing is SE debt used to be far far lower till Hope and ikeazu came on board... Look IMO and Abia make up over 60% of South East debt profile
