Please, house..... Help me through this small project. I have a solar charge controller at home and also a car 12V inverter. A thought came through me yesterday that I can do a DC connection from the charge controller to the DC car inverter. But I will need that kind of switch used in a vehicle for the car inverter. I have uploaded all the pics for you all to see.

Trippledots:Another alternative is to tap your soldering iron bit on the battery with the soldering lead. This way, too much heat is not deposited on the battery |

omakay:You don't need to bother yourSelf about such switch (or socket hole, if that's what you meant). Just connect / solder wire to the shiny strips

bassdow:God will really bless you real good for your response. I would have done it your way but i also still use the inverter in my vehicle and i feel it would be a burden having to tack wires each time i have to remove it from my vehicle and use at home. That's why i want to use a socket. I have another question. Is there anything like a specific DC cable/wire for this or can any wire work for it? Another question. My inverter is currently in the repair shop and it is 24V. That car inverter is 12V. I don't know how the charge controller will react. The charge controller is idle for now that's why i thought of all these ideas. Is there some setting i need to apply on the charge controller to switch voltage? |

omakay:i also still use the inverter in my vehicle and i feel it would be a burden having to tack wires each time i have to remove it from my vehicle and use at home. A simple Paper Cellotape should be more than enough, except you're itchy to spend money. Is there anything like a specific DC cable/wire for this or can any wire work for it? That thick Wire in the picture is good enough My inverter is currently in the repair shop and it is 24V. That car inverter is 12V. I don't know how the charge controller will react. I have attached a picture of your charge controller where I highlighted the DC Load output. Now that DC Load output of the charge Controller doesn't have a FIXed voltage hence it's Voltage depends on Voltage of your batteryBank e.g if you are using 2pcs of 12-volts battery in series, that gives 24-volts hence the DC Load output of the charge Controller would be 24-volts but if your battery bank is 12-volts, then that DC Load output port would be 12-volts. It's same when your battery bank is 36 or 48 volts also. I learnt this by chance as I almost blew up my Laptop BUT for whatever divine intervention, I choose to test and was shocked to see it was no longer the 12-volts I knew it used to be. In your current situation, would suggest you reConfigure your battery bank by connecting the 2 Positive ends of the battery to the Positive port of the charge controller, you do same with the negative ends also. That way, your batteryBank automatically becomes 12-volts. Also, please don't connect that your inverter directly to the battery; of course it would work BUT should you run the battery lower than necessary, the charge Controller which has automatic Low-Voltage cutOff would not automatically disconnect. Hence reason I suggest you only connect that small car inverter to that DC Load output port I highlighted on the attached image

dollarnaira:Hello boss I read somewhere were that you use Ethernet cables as your solar wire. I want to ask if you connected all the strings of coloured wire into one terminal or you divided them into fours for both terminal? |

eghos12:I have used both scenerios before. Now on full strings. Hope u know what to do? I used "tokunbo" type oo not new. |

bassdow:I noticed something about your diagram. The positive connection you indicated falls on the negative terminal of the charge controller while the negative connection falls on the positive terminal. Please check the diagram and talk about it. Thanks... |

tetralogyfallot:Not sure this place is meant for ADVERTs. Abeg take it to other threads. if the other thread wasn't abused with ADVERTs, doubt @dollarnaira would have had any reason to start this thread. |
| Re: Diy Lithium Ion Like-minds by bassdow: 7:17pm On Oct 31, 2024 |
eghos12:Wouldn't suggest this, as quality of most cables in the market now ain't as good as what was used by the person who made that claim. Common to buy VGA or HDMI cable, person got to waka well else you go buy wetin no good enough. Why not just buy the real cable and leave Ethernet cables for what they originally were meant for |
