Super Falcons Thrash Algeria 4-1 In Friendly

Nigeria’s Super Falcons thrashed Algeria 4-1 in their second friendly at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, Lagos on Tuesday.

Justine Madugu’s side defeated the Green Ladies 4-1 in their first friendly last week Saturday with captain Rasheedat Ajibade scoring both goals.

Folashade Ijamilusi however grabbed the headlines for the nine-time African in the game by scoring a hat-trick.

The Edo Queens striker doubled the hosts advantage seven minutes later.

Algeria missed the chance to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot in the 39th minute.

Alouache Ouassila however pulled a goal back for the Green Ladies two minutes before the break.

Tenerife forward Gift Monday struck on the dot of 45 minutes to hand Nigeria a two -goal advantage going into the break.

Ijamilusi makes the scoreline more emphatic by scoring the fourth four minutes from time.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu meeting the Super Falcons and Algerian national women team ahead of their friendly match at Mobolaji Johnson Arena (formerly, Onikan Stadium) tomorrow. The Governor, through Lagos State Sports Commission, sponsors the hosting of the match and hospitality around the event on behalf of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Flashes of brilliance there from Rasheedat, Onyenezide, Demehin and Gift Monday.

Lots of errors from the girls, communication, chances wasted by Monday, poor crosses especially from well established and experienced players like Rasheedat.
This team could do better. Some of them appear quite heavy and lack mobility….yes good vision and some defence splitting passes from Rasheedat but against a more experienced African women’s team like South Africa and Ghana black queens, this set of Falcons would struggle badly.
Sometimes good result can mask a lot of inadequacies. This is one of them. This Falcon will struggle if they continue to play like this.

Note: The purpose of these matches is to see which home based players can join the main team. That's why majorityof the player are home based players with a sprinkling of foreign based players.
