Unless the govt earns its positive change from non tax activities, it's really not something the average citizen should be happy about.

Yes, Wike is cashing out from Fubara based on their agreement - that's what Fubara is trying to stop. In the ideal situation, there's no connection between IGR and federal government. FIRS collects federal tax while state board of internal revenue collects state taxes.

I'm not igbo by tribe, but I think they've had some political turmoil for a while. As a society, the political and economic landscape aren't independent from each other, as with other key social institutions. A society needs to have some sense of justice, maybe it'll be nice to help them get it in some way.

Economic growth is good, but societal growth is better.

While he is wrong, I don't think you are right either. IGRs from taxable activities are actually detrimental to the economy.

The Govt will usually decrease taxes to help improve economic ativities.

All a Govt has to do to increase its IGR is increase the tax rate. The real GDP / per capita income is the true measure of an economy's wellbeing.

Anywhere in this country with bountiful mineral resources will forever be in a bad state, because of the people exploiting them for their rich resources. Its sad.

Kudos to President Bola Tinubu for the increase. The reforms he introduced in the FCT administration is what is yielding fruit now.

He brought FCT IRS from the dead into light and gave them the full autonomy to collect all FCT taxes. FIRS stopped collecting taxes on behalf of FCT and the FCT public service was fully detached from the FG public service with the appointment of an FCT head of service and permanent secretaries. This is what led to the increased revenue you’re seeing in FCT.

This is very unfair. Osun isn't doing bad at all. They only need to do better. Which state in the South West are you expecting osun to surpass ? Which one . That state is purely an agrarian state . However, they can still do better cut we should also applaud them for supposing , sokoto where most edibles comes from. Kogi which is a gateway to the nations capital with more Industries etc. similar to Ogun but yet untapped. If osun is given more time they will develop well. However the former handlers of the state weren't ambitious enough to go that high.

This is what will happen if new state is to be carved out of the present Oyo state

What's the use generating revenue you cannot use to develop your state? You tax your people to hunger yet the whole state is a mess.

Only one of the three Southeast states you mentioned deserve to have an airport. That's because their region is very small and not as big as Oyo. So what's the need of them all having an airport when they are not too distant from each other? Are the airports even viable?

Oga rest small. The federal government has given out licenses to miners all over the country and they are on most sites, so the revenue the ststes can collect from such miners is limited .
Secondly, the steel rolling mill you're talking about is long bought by Dangote. If you go there now , right in front of the gate , Dangote steel rolling mill is written on it boldly.

When our governor has misplaced priorities he is just a puppet. Osun state had become a state venture for the Adeleke family to milk freely.

To make matters worse, they are into land acquisition and relocating it to themselves.


Having the worst IGR in south west, they intend acquiring almost 4,000 hectares of land for a proposed airport, dumping the previous one at iddo osun.


They intend chasing about 150 families from their farmland, just so that they can acquire for their selfish interest.

Why not, today no any industrial manufacturing in the entire Ohun State.
Today where is Oshogbo iron and steel manufacturing industry, dead and buried. Today where is the great Oshogbo Machine Tools dead and buried. Today in the entire Oshun State no any industrial factory operations in the State, so no any I G R generations for the State monetary resources in the State. So they only depends on Federal government Petroleum resources receptions from the Federal government monetary supply systems donations.
