Court Stops CBN From Releasing Allocation To Rivers State Government by WORDSENSEI(op): 10:42am On Oct 30, 2024

The Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN from further releasing monthly financial allocations to the Rivers state government.

The court held that the receipt and disbursement of monthly allocations since January this year by governor Siminalayi Fubara is a Constitutional sommersault and aberration that must not be allowed to continue.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik who issued the order on Wednesday held that the presentation of the 2024 budget by Fubara before a 4-member Rivers House of Assembly was an affront to the Constitutional provision.

Specifically, the Judge said that Fubara action in implementing unlawful budget smacked gross violations of the 1999 Constitution he swore to protect.

[b]The judge therefore restrainined CBN, Accountant General of the Federation, Zenith Bank and Access Bank from further allowing Fubara to access money from the Consolidated Revenue and Federation [/b]Account.

I really pity wike ...he will not end well ...all because the governor did not allow u to control the affairs and funds of the state ... and river people havnt yet attacked wike ... this can never happen in Anambra or kano

The truth is that we are not practising democracy in Nigeria...its worse than autocracy cos in military regime , its only the head of state that is the dictator..... the head of state under military rule use soldiers and guns to commit their own crime ... but in democracy, we have multiple dictators , from president to governors and ex governors and they use the judges and gavel to commit these crimes .

It's up to Rivers State to take the law into their hands. Judges in Abuja can feel free to play around with Rivers simply because they have no stake in it.
