No, the airport is still far, up to another 3 kilometre. NNPC fence is nearby in this flyover. But the main thing is that the traffic planned to move from Emene into Akpuoga town will move right under this flyover, and into the planned Enugu smart city project, which will be located at Akpuoga, Emene, Onugba, Nchatancha, Umuode, Oruku, Amaechi Idodo and Owo towns.
You know that axis very well. I cannot wait to see the point Peter Mbah wants to prove with the smart city. It will rocket the property market in Emene.

You no see the cloth they spread on the line? That look like a market stall to you?

Those peeps are living there.
It might be the market security man, or the servants serving food on that small restaurant there. People could also bring their clothes from house to wash in a market. The whole shops around there were demolished late last year. Nobody lives in that shanty, its not even safe to trade there. The whole remaining stalls will still be demolished, this is the entrance of a very big estate development starting soon. I pass here regularly, and can go back this evening and snap the inside of those stalls. They are mostly empty.

Yes, it is. However, it's a village market in an Enugu suburb that has been demolished and the traders asked to relocate to a much decent market due to road expansion. If you look further, you will see modern houses and sellers' umbrellas.

It's insane to compare this to those brown roofs that overrun the entire South West (especially Ibadan) and someone calls abject poverty preserving one's culture.

Nice one! There is really a need for the bridge as that junction is always busy especially for traffic inbound to Abakaliki, Ikom, Cameroon etc.

That market needs to be relocated ASAP.Akanu Ibiam Airport Perimeter Fence course closely that area while NNPC Enugu depot is also around that area.
That is not a market,it is where people live, sir.
The cloth spread is the telltale.

The governor is trying too much, on front page today, he will be doing the Ninth mile to Olo road in Ezeagu then he will be flagging off these many roads this week.

A very local market in the very outskirts of Enugu city. The market trades local goods like palm oil, fruits and vegetables, local rice and other edible foods brought in from around the neighborhood, and nearby Ebonyi state. I dont understand why people think it will have modern buildings. But notice, the few houses where people actually live are well built. The area is developing seriously.

May God bless you o. That’s what I was thinking.

They need a better wider road there and may be a pedestrian bridge properly barricaded to prevent people from crossing the road and functioning traffic lights 🚦

Dem sha wan do something to be able to pack money.

😓 billions going into private pockets.

You are very wrong Sir, the hours I have lost parking in a long hold up on this very spot in the last 8 years is more than 100 hours, Lost. Usually, in the evenings, a long flow of big trucks move from Ebonyi state to Enugu, Anambra and other states, supplying stone chippings, trucks bearing merchandise also enter from Cameroon, Cross river, Benue, Nassarawa and Benue states enter Enugu en route Onitsha from this road.

Ok, now the reverse

Thousands of trucks bearing merchandise from Lagos, Onitsha, Aba and Port Harcourt pass this road to Ebonyi, Cross Rivers all the way to Cameroon. Its usually mad traffic.

The plan for this flyover is to lift the inter state/inter country traffic up on the overpass, they should speed past, while we on the local level stay underneath, pass from Emene to Akpuoga, Obinagu, Umuode, Oruku, and to the new government priority project, the new Enugu smart city project. This flyover is very very necessary.

Anybody saying that flyover is not necessary does not know the place. Among all the five roads that connects Enugu city, Enugu Abakalili road is the busiest . Note that people from benue, taraba , Adamawa etc now use the road while going to Onitsha and Aba for business so as to avoid the 9th mile Makurdi road which is in a terrible state.
From that flyover to inside the city should be six lanes with 8th lane service as service lane .
