Exactly as I suspected.

The imported fuel is cheaper than dangote fuel by a margin of 77 naira, according to one report I saw online.

If Ipman buys from dangote, they can't compete. They would have to sell higher than nnpc to do good business

Especially since NNPC wangled a cute deal from dangote to sell them fuel at 898 per liter. Meanwhile dangote is offering ipman 1000 or more.

And fuel imported was landed at 950 per liter as at October 1

Again fuel imported into Nigeria comes from two sources

1.substandard European refineries , mainly in the Netherlands and Belgium who refine poor quality cheap fuel and sell it to Nigeria and other African countries.

2. Malta where cheap sanctions busting Russian crude which costs less than 60 dollars a barrel is being refined into fuel

Landing cost of the imported fuel as at October 1 was 950. Dangote is offering ipman local fuel at 1028 max. Meanwhile NNPC is getting fuel from dangote at 898 per liter and it also plans to sell to ipman at 1000 or more.

Ipman decides it's time to keep on importong
Omo nothing wey dem wan talk wey I go believe about Nigeria. This is country is full of wicked people in high places. Must we sell fuel for our people at international price?

This is as a result of corruption and lack of leadership at the centre. TPain is not in control and he is not a leader.
I was fighting for Dangote before but I will never again. They are all selfish and after their pocket. NNPC, Dangote and the marketers are all playing us game.
Good morning

They have done so very subtly.

Dangote is offering IPMAN fuel at 1015 -1028 naira per liter. Meanwhile he is selling the same fuel to NNPC at 898 per liter.

By the time it reaches the market, NNPC would be selling fuel cheaper than IPMAN Members. Already, more people are ready to queue at NNPC stations to buy fuel than buy at IPMAN or MOMAN stations.

The only way for IPMAN to stay competitive is to keep selling imported fuel , which landing cost is N950 as at October 1.
At the end Dangote is just a crook that never changes his spot undecided

I laughed when useless T-pain's zombies were hailing him like he's the Messiah. undecided

The man should tell us his cost of production that he wants to sell over 1k, he gets his crude here and refines here, greedy thief undecided

Hmm...

When some people are told that increasing prices without addressing some key fundamental issues with the system would simply lead to further impoverishing of the masses, they bring up asinine rationalisation of price increases.

If the inefficiencies in the system are not first tackled, price of fuel would continue to increase astronomically.

There was a drop in crude oil prices over the last few weeks, but the price of fuel in Nigeria has increased twice. It does not make sense.

If the anding cost of imported fuel is N978, why should Dangote be selling his which is produced here in Nigeria above 1k?

Is there something I'm missing here?
Possible reasons.

The crude oil prices are varies. Meanwhile Nigeria Brent crude oil is best and most expensive. Theirs, may be cheaper crude oil

2. The quality of refined product of Dangote may higher than imported, ....the higher the quality, the more money u spend to produce it(values added)

3. The environment that Dangote operates, is toxic and economically disadvantages to investors. In advanced nation, govt subsidised many things for producers, for their products not be too expensive, because, business man only interest, is to make profit, but here in Nigeria, govt withdraws every incentives that can make products cheaper.

I have said it before that the reason Dangote said he would import crude oil from Brazil and USA is because he wanted to increase the price of his refined fuel.Nigeria export crude oil and import refine fuel and the price is still cheaper than Dangote who only import the crude oil. What is humane in this?

its up to dangote to make it cheaper or marketers go import when its cheaper than dangote....

dangote is still payin tax to nigeria at the end....either way nigeria still gains....

The PETROAN Publicity Secretary, Dr Joseph Obele, however, told Saturday PUNCH that the price of Dangote PMS might be higher because the refinery was still producing with the imported crude it bought at a premium.

Why has Tony declined to give the actual price? Let the marketers go for the cheaper price, after all they were once accused for the high price of petrol. The movie just got interesting.

This is not business but exploitation.Nigeria is the owner of the natural resources that is use to refine the oil.Why is Dangote lamenting that marketers are not patronising him when his products price is higher than the imported one.

the incentives we're there in the past for investors, the coming of Apc party changed everything......we lost many investors and investments in 2017 and 2018. The problem of Apc government is good and friendly policies.

Just for clarification purpose.....

There is nothing like substandard petroleum product or quality.
All imported petroleum products are subjected to analysis and meet nigeria current specification.

I am petroleum chemist working in apapa for more than a decade. I can tell you dangote petrol and imported one are of same quality. Because i have done analysis on both. Either from malta or euro.

Nigerian need to realize that dangote is a business man. And he want to make more money and remain afloat as the africa richest man. He will not sell his product for us below the international price. He would even want to control the price and sell it higher

Why is he finding it difficult to reveal is petrol price to the public.
It was when his refinery started operations that was when the price of the petrol move above 1000 naira per litre. Because he advise nigeria government to remove subsidies completely to favour him irrespective of what nigeria are passing through.
Nigerian must not allow him to monopolize the oil
And gas industry.

Let it be a free market. Nigeria is suffering already.
Nobody should take us to hostage.
May God help us.

The problem is the person drilling for crude is competing with international people , not local

So either he charges for crude at international prices, or his workers japa to countries where they would be paid well.

So it mwans that Dangote refinery isnt helping the price of fuel for the common man, despite all tge support it got from the citizens thru the FG Dollar subsidy.

Read what the marketers are saying and check for yourself na. Landing cost is less than 1,000 naira. That includes transportation oooo.

Meaning it should be around 400-600 without transportation. Or less than that.
