I didn't need to look far for your usual gaslighting and lies. Electricity bill is more expensive in Nigeria than Ghana. Even China and Singapore.
Only for band A which I should remind you form less than 20 percent of consumers here.

Most pay below 100 per kWh. And 40 percent don't even pay anything for power at all.

You might want to call yourself a liar.

Nigeria's electric market is overrated, Nigerians are just being exploited. How does it make sense to the brain that some people would be supplied power less than 10 hours a day and would pay less, and another class would have access to same power for upto 18 hours a daily for an extraneous amount.....its doesn't make sense to me, it only means that they cannot even sustain the promised 18 to 24 hours, meaning they cannot even supply the whole country power, hence, to be smart and make money they tag some nigerians as unable to pay for power and tag some other ables to py just to me money for themselves.....what a country n govt
Well, for a market where many don't even pay for power and a minority pay actual market price ( and that minority inlcides a good percentage of the very rich)...so much for exploitation

We no even see the light.

Give us band a and prepaid metre and we would regulate it ourselves (by removing fuse when going out).

Shut your smelly mouth. How much is the minimum wage in your hellish country? What is the unemployment rate?

You're an absolute idiot.
See the foolishness of APC supporters. This article is for the fact that people are paying for light they're not using. But lack of proper education will definitely impact their level of understanding.

liar everyone pays that amount. Even those that don't see light. No one pays below 220kw/h. Prove me wrong and upload your electric bill or anyone you know paying such.

Like I said you all need to be stoned to death.

",the people complaining are postpaid "

Prepaid user won't cry for disconnection as by default if they can't pay. They will be disconnected .

The fact is, if we want power, we got to pay for it at high prices. But most of us don't want to because we won't be able to afford the prices needed to kick start the sector.

You really should not let the fact that petrol is expensive bother you so much.

After all, I don't let the fact that a Ferrari and Porsche are out of my reach financially annoy me too much. It is how it is.

Guy, you're done for with this mentality o. Ahhhh! Just to uphold trash, you sacrifice logical reasoning.

You're insanely clever. One thing kept popping up in this article: "estimated billing". You're obviously as mischievous as Tinubu. Pay pay pay, but no regards for operational standards or transparency. In the countries you referenced, is estimated billing the core of their revenue base? What's the instrument of determining who pays what, on each band?
Are you mentioning a person that compared one's inability to afford fuel to another's inability to afford a ferrari? Lol. You might as well hold a convo with a goat; it would make more sense.

Abia state now have 24 hours power supply and it’s free of charge.

You might want to relocate there.

what is wrong if people buy two litres to watch BBN and telemundo series?

what were you using your 2litres to watch?

is it what people used their two litres to watch that previously prevented the use of power for production?

will the power for production be used for free?

Great news in some ways. Before we were subsidising consumption and idleness.
People could afford to buy two litres to watch BBNAIJA and Telemundo series. Now it is strictly on a need basis. This will allow the use of power for more of production.
what great about the news, are you not aware "SUBSIDY " is the only welfare that get to the Nigerians directly from govt

Since govt withdraws these subsidies what is the impact, what are the benefits relative to reality

These Nigeria were all that Merits, benefits, and theories we read in economic textbooks would never work so of the bloody set of thieves that call themselves our leader

Subsidy withdrawn off electricity and fuel where are the proceeds today, of what impact/utility are the withdrawn funds to the economic or nation building

Since removal of subsidy on both,
1. we habe had more national grid collaspes

2. we have witnessed back to back fuel scarcity despite the high price

Tinubu revenue drive would have worth it if eventually those funds will be put to nation building But they rather loot it .. as Nigerians what are we really sacrificing for,is it worth it

More like no meter; free power! That would force the DISCOs to send meters across board. Fashola actually put out such law when he was minister for power but nigerians don't read the news nor know their rights.

Estimated billing has been made illegal since the past administration. We're a people that're used to being oppressed and begging same oppressors for a break. If nepa go areas where there are no meters and want to cut light; rather than band together and ask for prepaid meters, they start beggin the same NEPA that's in the wrong.

What are you even writing? Have they metered all the pending applications in their office. Your claim can only be reasonable if all who applied for meter are settled

Bro, such projects are handled by the government for the sake of national security. A nuclear project isn't your conventional project my bro. If hijacked, it could spell doom for any nation.

Yes, na foreigners we go hire to bulid am but those foreigners will need to be paid to ensure that they keep maintaining the faciliity. And we both know the way we handle such things here.

Truth is, were not ready for that as a nation. We haven't managed our basic infrastructure well, nuclear is a NO GO!

But we never gave up at Greenify Solar Energy Nig, we craft technically, projects to the pleasure of our clients.

Apply for meter you say? That would make it seem as tho the meter isn't compulsory. It should be mandated and distributed to all houses currently been supplied power(whether you apply or not). It's not rocket science. The meters are literally in their offices collecting dust but they intentionally bottle neck the process to continue this estimated billings.

See, when i was about to move into my new house at agric ikd, almost ten years back, ikedc had officials going house to house to register people(houses and businesses) ahead of the meter distribution. Till now, it's one story or the other. Finally, last year, they came out openly after we constantly requested and told us to pay 150k or so for it.

So, that thing you said about pending applications; it's intentional. They want to sell the meters for outrageous prices despite the previous administration asking them to distribute it to all buildings and what not. Also, it asked customers not to pay until the discos bring the prepaid meter to you.

As it stands, you're bereft of knowledge as to how these guys play "politics" with the meters. Go with money and see that wait list of people that applied disappear in an instant.

Before you ask people to pay, you give them meter. It is criminal to charge people estimated bills. If people have their prepaid meters installed, they will be able to manage how they use power. It is that simple.

There is an alternative which is solar power. My best guess is those requesting disconnection intends to go the solar route because fuel is expensive as well.

It will only cost them inverter, battery and solar panel fee. Sun is free and it will remain free and inexhaustible.

If Nigeria was a functional country, we would have at least one NUCLEAR POWER plant.

How?

Sign a deal with Russian so they help us build it for free, Grant them license to run the operation of the power plant commercially till they recoup their money plus profit and hand over the power plant to Federal Government.

Ghana is thinking in that direction now. While us giant of Africa by GDP can't think in that direction.
why not sign a deal with other Europeans to help us run d country?
Re: Electricity Consumers Demand Disconnection Over Rising Tariffs by Homextras: 10:37am On Nov 02, 2024
It is satanic asking consumers of electricity of developing nation to pay N200,000 per month for electricity bills.

Why should people even receive estimated billing to begin with? It is criminal on the part of the distribution companies. Allow customers to buy meters from third party vendors, or supply them directly. It is 2024 for heavens sake!!!

Here in Canada, for 24hrs light, with heavy usage in a month, for a three bedroom, you won’t be paying more than N140,000 and you can easily afford it with the minimum wages that you earn in a typical 8 hour shift in a day. I mean, the money you earn in 7 hours(a days work) can conveniently pay your electricity bill for the whole month.

The exploitation in Nigeria is mind boggling, and their supporters are also shocking .
