If you mean “others” by saying Ibo, why should any sane Yoruba bother about street name there when even the inhabitants are escaping daily from the zone because of insecurity?

You could read the situation better. You don’t go to Spanish speaking parts of the USA and tell them that English speaking Americans own the place just because it is part of the USA! You will be put in your place properly! That is what the Igbo did in Lagos that got the Yoruba proactive in response!
The land is the main asset

Do you know, that during colonial rule, the British leased a parcel of land outside the city gates of Kano to house their houseboys and auxillary soldiers who were drawn mainly from the SE (house negroes) and the pagan provinces of the north (British Expedition force)?

The place is known today as Sabo Garin which translates to new layout .

Sabo Garin is also referred to as "No Man's land" and this phrase was coined by your Ibo people who began to troop into Kano and the entire north holding the pocket of the British like some Prison bitch.

The area Sabo Garin fell outside the jurisdiction of the Islamic Sharia system during the entire colonial era and this is why your ignorant grandfathers referred to it as a no man's land after the British left in 1960.

But unbeknownst to them, the area Sabo Garin which you Ibos referred to as No man's land following the British exit had been handed over back to the Islamic theorocracy in a symbolic hand over ceremony a day before the main independence celebration.

But your Ibo grandfather's insisted that the old system that saw the jurisdiction of the Emir of Kano not extending to Sabo Garin still remained despite the British handing back the entire northern Nigeria back to the Islamic caliphate.

As your grandfathers went about in their usual arrogant bragadacious manner, rubbing it in the faces of northern Muslims that Sabo Garin was outside the control of the Emir and foolishly declared it No Man's land, the Kano people were simply sharpening their swords and waiting for the very right moment to evict you out in the most violent manner.

I will assume you no longer refer to anywhere in Kano including Sabo Garin as no man's land.

You can continue your foolishness with the Yorubas who are very late in the game in truly understanding you guys.

You were driven out of the north for your arrogance .

Same thing happened across the SS in the form of abandoned property saga following the brutal Biafra occupation of the coastal areas.

Yorubas are now seeing what both the north and SS people saw in you over 50ys ago.

Continue.
A lot of stories you tried to tell without any source or reference for a historian like me and many historians knows this is garbage or at best figments of your imagination unless you provide a credible source to research on. But the most interesting part of the piece I love is the fact that you used violence, brutal, take over, force about the igbos more than any other words. When considering the fact that the Igbos had never used guns to achieve any of this except during the civil war for self defense, reinforces the same thing we have always known about Igbos. Igbos are an exception to what the typical black African is all over the world, which your tribal people also totally represents- lazy, only good at singing and dancing, mentally not capable of improving themselves or move from one stage of life to another except through stealing, can’t improve their environment, will be bitter and jealous at fellow blacks who are more successful as it reflects their failure at improving themselves ( just saw that in your write up) have a docile slavery mentality that lacks taking initiatives or creativity etc …which is what perfectly describes your people which you also confirmed and mentioned you are Yoruba . If not for British racists Igbos doesn’t have any business being in same country with people with slave mentality who have everything to succeed in life but still remain perpetual failures. All the SW states have oceans for sea ports but igbos do not. Nigeria offered scholarships overseas from Gowon until IBB SAP program ended it in 1987 and Igbos were totally excluded from it . SE have the worst roads in Nigeria while the SW have good roads and even trains courtesy of FG to spite Igbos. Igbos have been excluded till today from government or any key government post since killing of Aguiyi Ironsi in 1966 coup detat, MI Okpara built the Oji river power plant which supplied 24 hours electricity to present day igboland, SS and southern Cameroun but was destroyed during the civil war. Gowon and subsequent administrations blocked the rebuilding of that power plant till today due to Igbophobia etc More than 60 years afterall these you people are still bitching like lesbians to Igbos as if Igbos tied your hands and legs from succeeding anywhere in Nigeria while same you people have been masquerading with love for one Nigeria, just don’t understand the hypocrisy. It is a Shame your people have accepted the shameful mental slavery toga view of black people as your tribes identity…imagine all these long write up filled with bitterness. That means if British racists didn’t use Gowon to fight and force Biafra into one Nigeria, Igbos would have been competing with China in terms of science and technology today and would have inspired other Africans to free themselves from their mental shackles of slavery like yours. Black people with your mindset are the reason black people are still seen as stupid and treated like dog poop all over the world that even Asians and Arabs have started enslaving black people now…from Libya down to Dubai etc ..smh

May I inform you that all lands in a State is vested in the State Governor who may for overriding public interest revoke a certificate of occupancy. Compensation should come the way of the land owner though.

What you fail to realize is that whatever you guys decide to do, it has no real bearing on the southwest.

Before you guys left your hamlets, yorubas don dey do international trade and had a thriving local economy.

That megalomonia that without one tribe the others will not survive is foolishness of the highest order and is unique to the Igbos.

There is a yoruba saying that " nkan ni eiye nje ki agbado to de".

That is our approach to life. We are trained to believe that " Yes we are important but nevertheless without us , the world will cope just fine."

That is the reality of life. People come people go, empires rise empires fall...the world remains standing.

We are talking aboutbtwo different things. Igbos have a right to demand for fair treatment and I support their legitimate agitations a hundred per cent.

What we are discussing here is the temerity to claim that another tribes state is a " no man's land" because you have been living there and doing business for a long time.

When you do that, you must not cplain about the hosts taking any legal means to protect their ancestral lands.

It is fair play. I don't hate Igbos and that I am yoruba will not prevent me from looking at issues pragmatically and saying the truth.

I will never go to Enugu and say it's a no man's land because I have lived there for 300 years

The No-man's-land statement was first made by a Yoruba man Gov. Lateef Jakande. The former Governor of Lagos.

Yes, some Ibos like Orji Uzor Kalu may have also said it, while some big mouth Ibos without brains ran along with it, but we Yorubas sensationalised it for anti-Ibo propaganda election purposes. Our Yoruba APC propagandists will never mention Jakande as the progenitor of the No-man's-land phrase.

The matter has died down but I expect some APC Yoruba propagandists to bring it up again in 2027 election campaign to raise anti-Ibo sentiments and fool undiscerning voters like you.

Facts laid bare..

No Igbo group anywhere in Nigeria made such a statement.......if anything it was Tinubu who politicized the Igbo community in Lagos, was he not the one that pushed the Eze Ndigbo nonsense in Lagos.......when he showered attention and money on the nobody called Ohazurike in the early 2000s.

Before Tinubu, Igbos were almost 100% apolitical in Lagos. I am not saying Igbos do not have the right to vote and be voted for, but Tinubu pushed Igbos into Lagos politics! There is a reason why Igbo elders never encouraged us to delve into Lagos politics because they knew Igbos are a significant minority in Lagos.................there is no way Igbo population cannot be up to 10% of Lagos's population, going into politics will leave us at loggerheads with the natives..........see the result!

I have said over and over on this forum that Igbos should begin the inevitable liquidation of some of their assets in Lagos for transfer to the east.........so that Yoruba disrespect go reduce! We cannot be shouting Biafra at home and be dragging Lagos with Yoruba people! there is nothing in lagos that we cannot replicate in Alaigbo NOTHING!

I love your pragmatic and realistic opinion and I deeply respect that. Before Tinubu, this sort of tension in lagos was non-existent.

I have Igbo childhood friends till today abd we still hang out and move together.

I pray that common sense prevails for everyone as the two tribes are still the most compatible. It's just a question of boundaries and mutual respect and all will be well.

Yoruba and Igbo dey nack each other, we dey marry each other, we dey do business together steady.
